(Dan Tri) - Social media has been spreading a clip of a teacher in Dak Nong giving each student 1 million VND. After verification, this amount of money is the allowance of students at a boarding school for ethnic minorities and the students posted it online... for fun.

On January 17, Mr. Le Cong Trinh, Principal of the Krong No District Boarding Secondary and High School for Ethnic Minorities, Dak Nong, confirmed with Dan Tri reporter about the information spreading on TikTok related to a teacher "giving" each student 1 million VND to celebrate Tet.

According to Mr. Trinh, the information that a teacher in Dak Nong used his own money to give each student 1 million VND in lucky money is incorrect.

"This clip was posted on social media by a 12th grade student of the school for fun. This money is actually the back pay for the students' benefits at the ethnic boarding school and the teacher gave it back to the students," Mr. Trinh explained.

Mr. Trinh said that according to regulations, students of ethnic boarding schools are entitled to policy scholarships equal to 80% of the state's minimum wage.

"In July 2024, the basic salary will increase and this amount will be supplemented by the budget, so the school will pay back the children," Mr. Trinh added.
