Promoting circular economy in industrial zones

DNVN - Sharing at the Conference "Promoting circular economy in Vietnam's industrial zones towards sustainable development" on April 12, Mr. Smail Alhilali - United Nations Industrial Development Organization emphasized that promoting circularity in industrial zones can help Vietnam create opportunities for innovation and green growth.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Le Thanh Quan - Director of the Department of Economic Zones Management, Ministry of Planning and Investment highly appreciated the role of the eco-industrial park model in greening industrial parks and implementing circular economy in the industrial production sector. This model contributes to solving the problem of climate change, mobilizing resources from the private sector for green industrial solutions.

At the same time, ensure energy security and demonstrate political commitment to Vietnam's sustainable development goals and climate change response.

According to Mr. Smail Alhilali - Head of Circular Economy and Chemical Management Department of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), circular economy brings many opportunities for Vietnam.

“Promoting circularity in industrial zones can help Vietnam not only reduce its environmental impact but also create opportunities for innovation and green growth. Vietnam has great potential to develop eco-industrial zones, bringing economic benefits to the country,” said Mr. Smail Alhilali.

The conference affirmed the importance of promoting circular economy in industrial zones in Vietnam.

According to the UNIDO representative, UNIDO plays an important role in providing policy and technical advisory services on cleaner and more efficient use of resources for countries, including raw materials, energy and water.

Along with that is promoting the implementation of circular economy and business cooperation model in developing ecological industrial parks.

At the conference, experts discussed the opportunities and challenges of integrating circular economic activities between different industries in industrial parks. At the same time, they discussed ways to link urban development goals through promoting industrial and urban symbiosis solutions.

Ms. Sibylle Bachmann - Head of Development Cooperation, Embassy of Switzerland in Vietnam emphasized that the sharing and exchange of experiences between experts will contribute to promoting the integration of circular economic models in industrial zones. Creating the basis for forming a friendly business environment towards innovation for Vietnam.
