Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong welcomed and thanked the delegation of the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of Cambodia for accepting the invitation to visit Vietnam and attend the event to promote tourism through the program "Tourism, Cinema and Sports - Proud of Vietnamese Identity". The Vietnamese side highly appreciated the Cambodian side for its presentation and sharing of experience in developing the cinema sector, thereby promoting the development of the tourism industry.
Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong acknowledged that the Cambodian film industry has made remarkable progress in recent times, with the film The Missing Picture being nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 2014 Oscars, marking the revival and spectacular development of Cambodian cinema. In 2023, Vietnam will host the Da Nang International Asian Film Festival for the first time. The film "The White House" directed by Kavich Neang won the Best Director award at the Festival.
Discussing the situation of cultural cooperation in recent times, Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong informed that the cultural and artistic exchange between Vietnam and Cambodia has developed well on the basis of bilateral and multilateral relations. Cultural and artistic cooperation is a bridge between the diplomatic relations and friendship between the people of the two countries. Cultural exchange between the two countries helps the people of the two countries share many similarities and understand each other better.

This includes implementing the cultural and artistic cooperation plan between the two sides. Vietnam and Cambodia take turns organizing Cultural Weeks in the two countries' territories; regularly sending artist delegations to participate in international and national cultural festivals and events held in each country. In particular, when Vietnam organizes international cultural and artistic festivals, the Vietnamese side invites and covers all expenses when Cambodian artist delegations come to Vietnam to attend.
According to the Deputy Minister, in 2023, the two sides will coordinate to organize the Cambodian Cultural Week in Soc Trang and Dong Thap. In Dong Thap province, the Cambodian art program has created opportunities for exchange in the border area of the two countries, contributing to the people of the two countries in the common border area, especially the young generation, increasingly connecting and understanding each other. In May 2024, the two sides will coordinate to organize the Vietnamese Cultural Week in Phnom Penh and Bantean Meanchey province. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam would like to express its sincere thanks to the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of Cambodia for actively supporting and coordinating the preparation for the successful organization of the Vietnamese Cultural Week in Cambodia in 2024 and giving the Vietnamese delegation a warm welcome.
Regarding multilateral cooperation activities, Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong said that Cambodia has participated in cultural and artistic activities organized by Vietnam, including: ASEAN Film Week in Vietnam 2022; "ASEAN Cultural Colors" Exhibition 2022; ASEAN Traditional Costume Exhibition within the framework of Hue Festival 2022; International Circus Festival 2022; ASEAN Music Festival 2022; The two sides actively participated in projects within the framework of ASEAN-COCI cooperation. In August 2024, Cambodia participated in the International Dance Festival in Vietnam. Through this event, Cambodian artists introduced the richness and diversity of Khmer culture to the world.

Regarding the direction of cooperation in events from now until the end of 2024, Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong suggested that the two sides focus on implementing cultural and artistic cooperation plans, typically: Effectively implementing the content of the Vietnam-Cambodia Cultural and Artistic Cooperation Plan for the period 2023-2027; The 7th Hanoi International Film Festival takes place from November 7-11 this year; the Vietnamese side invites the Cambodian side to participate in this international cultural event. At the same time, in December 2024, Cambodia will participate in the 4th ASEAN Graphic Arts Exhibition taking place in Hai Phong.
Regarding events in 2025 and the coming time, the Deputy Minister also hopes that the two sides will coordinate to organize the Cambodian Cultural Week in Vietnam. The Vietnamese side is ready to coordinate in implementing this task based on the request of the Cambodian side. He hopes that the Cambodian side will soon propose a time and location for the two sides to coordinate.
It is expected that in 2025, on the occasion of the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam will organize the ASEAN Music Festival and ASEAN Photo Exhibition in Nghe An - President Ho Chi Minh's hometown. Vietnam will invite the Cambodian delegation to participate in this event.
In the field of cultural heritage, Cambodia is a country with many cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO, of which Angkor Wat temple heritage has become one of the most miraculous works of mankind. In order to promote cooperation in the field of cultural heritage, the Deputy Minister also proposed that both sides increase the sharing of experiences in the restoration and embellishment of relics, preservation and promotion of cultural heritage values.
In addition, Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong expressed the interest of both sides in promoting cultural exchanges, especially exchange programs in the provinces sharing the border, contributing to the people of the two countries, especially the young generations of the two sides, understanding each other better; continuing to strengthen cultural and artistic cooperation within the framework of multilateral cooperation of UNESCO, ASEAN, Mekong-Lancang cooperation and sub-region.
