"Nurturing" the Party - Part 2: Let the "seeds" sprout green

Việt NamViệt Nam12/04/2025

(QBĐT) - It is undeniable that the work of developing Party members among students in Quang Binh has had many positive changes, the number of excellent students joining the Party has increased steadily over the years. However, compared to practical requirements and existing potential, that number is still too modest. The work of training and recruiting young Party members is facing many challenges. Therefore, to effectively recruit Party members among students, comprehensive, synchronous and long-term solutions are needed.

Many barriers

According to statistics from the Department of Education and Training (DET), from 2021 to the end of December 2024, 20/32 schools in the province have admitted 120 students to the Party. This number is still modest compared to the resources of excellent students in high schools. And this also means that there are still 12 schools that are "blank areas" in the work of developing Party members for students.

Nguyen Binh Khiem High School (Quang Trach) is one of the educational institutions that has not been able to recruit Party members from students for many years in a row. In fact, from 2021-2024, no student of the school was able to attend the Party awareness training class. According to the explanation of the school's Vice Principal Pham Ngoc San, in previous years, the quality of the school's input students was not high; the school focused mainly on developing Party members among the teaching staff, so there was no specific plan to develop Party members from students. In the 2020-2025 term, the school's Party Committee also did not include the target of developing Party members among students in the congress resolution.

“In the 2025-2030 term, the school Party Committee strives to recruit 15 Party members, of which 50% are students. Therefore, since the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, the school has focused on training and creating a source of Party members from students. The school has reviewed and selected 2 students who are eligible to participate in the Party awareness training class and according to the plan, at the end of the school year, these 2 students will be admitted,” said Mr. Pham Ngoc San.

Educational institutions need to regularly organize activities to educate revolutionary traditions, foster national pride and aspiration for contribution in students.

In reality, it can be seen that the source of students is very large, but the number of students who meet the conditions and standards for admission is low. According to the leaders of some high schools in the province, the biggest problem lies in the age of admission to the Party. Principal of Luong Luong The Vinh High School (Ba Don Town) Tran Thanh Hai said: According to the Party Charter, at the time the Party cell considers admission, people joining the Party must be 18 years old (calculated by month), so the number of students who meet the age requirements each year is still small. Moreover, although many students are trained and supported, when they meet the conditions for consideration and admission, they have graduated from high school, returned to their place of residence or went to school, so the Party Committee in the school cannot carry out the procedures, processes and issue resolutions to propose admission.

Director of the Department of Education and Training Dang Ngoc Tuan pointed out that the difficulties in developing Party members from students are due to the lack of political awareness among students; some schools have not really paid attention to the work of creating sources for Party membership from students; the discovery and training of students with qualities and ideals to develop the Party at many educational institutions is still a formality; the coordination between the school Party cell, the Youth Union and the family is not close, leading to the political and ideological education for students not achieving the desired results. Moreover, the lack of a practical environment for training, the pressure of studying, taking exams and the interruptions in transferring Party membership records also cause some difficulties and obstacles, somewhat affecting the process of students' efforts...

Gradually untie each "knot"

Mr. Dang Ngoc Tuan affirmed: In order to create positive and effective changes in developing Party members from students, it is necessary to synchronously deploy many solutions, in which, special attention should be paid to propaganda and education of revolutionary ideals for students, because that is a fundamental solution, with long-term orientation, helping students form a correct worldview, understand and voluntarily strive for the Party's ideals. This is a task that needs to be deployed regularly and must have close coordination between localities, schools and families, especially the need to promote the role of the Youth Union.

In recent times, the Department of Education and Training and the Provincial Youth Union have closely coordinated and implemented a variety of activities in educational institutions. Many models and movements on building school culture and a beautiful lifestyle have been implemented, such as: The campaign "One good news every day, one beautiful story every week", the forum "Building beautiful friendships - saying no to school violence", "Building a culture of behavior in schools", the movements "3 good students", "Youth volunteers", "Creative youth", "When I am 18" ... have contributed to motivating students to practice and strive to become members of the Youth Union.

At the conference on developing Party members among students organized by the Department of Education and Training, Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Board Ha Van Ninh said: The work of developing Party members among students has strategic and long-term significance, requiring deep, complete, comprehensive awareness and strong leadership, direction, and close coordination of Party committees and organizations in the political system. Relevant agencies and units need to further promote their roles before, during and after Party admission, absolutely not letting newly admitted Party members encounter difficulties in transferring Party activities...

Developing young Party members, especially high school students, requires practical solutions that prioritize quality. The consideration of admissions must be serious, thorough, ensuring the correct standards, procedures and substance, avoiding the situation of chasing achievements or admitting to meet the quota, affecting the prestige of the Party organization and the quality of the young Party members. The Director of the Department of Education and Training emphasized that the Party Committee in the school is the organization primarily responsible for leading the work of developing Party members; the principal is responsible for the implementation. Therefore, promoting the role and responsibility of the head (Party Secretary, School Principal) is a prerequisite for the effectiveness and quality of the work of developing Party members in students. In addition, it is necessary to raise awareness among management staff and teachers about developing Party members in students; creating an environment for students to study and practice; Maintain the school's connection with the Party Committee (Party cell) where the Party members are active in order to coordinate and share experiences in monitoring, nurturing, and helping young Party members continue to maintain their enthusiasm, ambition, and desire to contribute to becoming official Party members...

Developing Party members from students is a promising direction but also requires caution and diligence. If implemented systematically from the work of discovery, nurturing to practical training and monitoring after admission, this will be a valuable resource for the Party in the new period, because it is a young team with knowledge, courage, ideals, ready to commit and contribute.

Peace of Mind
