The second qualifying round of the 2024 Paris Olympics has 3 groups and only the top 3 teams and the best second-placed team will advance. The Vietnamese women's team is in the same group with Japan, Uzbekistan and India.
Among these, Uzbekistan is considered Vietnam's main competitor for the second place in the table when Japan is at a superior level, while India is considered much lower.

Unfortunately, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team lost to Uzbekistan, the only goal of the match was scored by Khabibullaeva in the 30th minute. This was a well-deserved victory for the home team as they played better than Vietnam in every aspect.
Coach Mai Duc Chung's team did not play well in this match, the players did not control the game and the number of scoring opportunities in front of the Uzbeskitan goal was also very few.
Losing to Uzbekistan, the possibility of Vietnam's women's team finishing second in Group C is not high, so the possibility of coach Mai Duc Chung and his team being eliminated after the group stage is very high. In the same group match, Vietnam's women's team easily defeated India 7-0.

Coach Mai Duc Chung: "Vietnam women's team needs to be careful against Uzbekistan"
Speaking before the second qualifying round of the 2024 Olympics, coach Mai Duc Chung said: "This is the second time the Vietnamese women's team has returned to Uzbekistan. Four years ago, the team also faced this opponent. Indeed, although a period of time has passed, our feelings about the people and landscape of Uzbekistan have not changed.
In this return, I see that Uzbekistan has clearly improved in terms of level. They recently reached the third place match of the 19th Asian Games women's football. That is enough to show how high the level of the Uzbekistan women's team is."
