National Assembly Chairman: Further promote traditional friendship with Uzbekistan

President Mirziyoyev and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man agreed that the two sides still have great potential for cooperation in areas such as transport connectivity, tourism, culture,education and local cooperation.

According to VNA Special Envoy, within the framework of his official visit to Uzbekistan and participation in the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly (IPU-150), on the afternoon of April 7 local time, in the capital Tashkent, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

President Mirziyoyev warmly welcomed National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man on behalf of the Vietnamese Party and State leaders to his official visit to Uzbekistan and thanked him for attending the 150th IPU General Assembly; highly appreciated the historical significance of the visit of the Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman to Uzbekistan to promote bilateral relations; affirmed that Vietnam is a traditional friend and an important partner of Uzbekistan in the Southeast Asian region.

The President of Uzbekistan respectfully sent his regards to General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; recalled the meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Kazan last October 2024.

At the same time, President Mirziyoyev expressed his impression of the great achievements in economic development, social security and international integration that Vietnam has achieved over the past four decades; considering this a typical example of a middle-sized country that Uzbekistan wants to learn from.

For his part, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man thanked the State and People of Uzbekistan for the warm welcome given to the National Assembly Chairman and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly; and sent greetings and regards from General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to President Mirziyoyev.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man congratulated Uzbekistan on successfully organizing the 150th IPU General Assembly and highly appreciated President Mirziyoyev's impressive speech at the session; affirmed that Vietnam's participation in IPU-150 demonstrates the spirit of solidarity, friendship and the desire to further promote the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation for development and prosperity between the two countries.

Sharing the outstanding results in the process of economic and social development and political stability as well as major orientations towards the new era, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized that Vietnam always attaches importance to the traditional friendship with Uzbekistan and wishes to further promote it to match the potential of the two countries.

In a friendly and open atmosphere, the two leaders discussed many issues and shared their visions on bilateral cooperation; highly appreciated the positive developments in the relationship between the two countries in recent times, affirming the very important contributions of the two countries' National Assemblies.

In that spirit, the two sides agreed that in the coming time, it is necessary to increase in-depth political exchanges and dialogues at all levels, especially at high levels, through the Party, State, Government and National Assembly channels; continue to closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums; continue to strengthen cooperation between legislative bodies, share experiences in supervising law enforcement and deciding on important issues of the country; continue to review and sign cooperation documents, creating a solid legal framework for the comprehensive development of bilateral relations.

In addition to the signing, the two leaders agreed to strengthen supervision and monitoring so that agreements and documents are implemented effectively and fully.

To further promote bilateral economic-trade-investment cooperation to new heights, the two leaders agreed that both sides need to encourage businesses from both countries to connect and explore cooperation opportunities in areas such as healthcare, energy, oil and gas, textiles, agriculture, etc.

Accordingly, relevant ministries and branches of the two countries are assigned to coordinate in reviewing and developing a comprehensive roadmap for cooperation in all fields to report to the two sides' senior leaders for comments.

President Mirziyoyev and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man agreed that the two sides still have great potential for cooperation in areas such as transport connectivity, tourism, culture, education-training and local cooperation; creating favorable conditions to enhance tourism cooperation and people-to-people exchange; considering the possibility of opening more air routes, increasing the frequency of direct flights, and having favorable visa policies for citizens of the two countries.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man conveyed to President Mirziyoyev the invitation to visit Vietnam from General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong.

President Mirziyoyev expressed his readiness to visit Vietnam at the earliest possible time, and wished to welcome General Secretary To Lam and senior Vietnamese leaders to visit Uzbekistan at an appropriate time./.
