"With the efforts of the Vietnamese Government and businesses, I believe that in the remaining six months of 2024, Korean investment in Vietnam will increase sharply," Mr. Hong Sun - Chairman of the Korean Business Association in Vietnam (KOCHAM) - emphasized to Tuoi Tre .

The head of KOCHAM is very excited that he will soon be present at a number of events that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will attend in Seoul.

Focus on economics

While the Prime Minister's visit demonstrates the importance of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Korea, the schedule of activities clearly shows the focus that the head of government wishes to promote in cooperation with Vietnam's leading trade and investment partner.

According to Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu, the Prime Minister is expected to have more than 30 activities during his four days in Korea, and more than half of them will focus on the economy.

In addition to official programs with senior Korean leaders, the Prime Minister will attend and speak at three forums, including the Business Forum, the Tourism Promotion and Cultural Cooperation Forum, and the Vietnam - Korea Labor Forum.

The Prime Minister will also attend two seminars, including a seminar with leaders of Korean economic organizations and a seminar with Korean intellectuals and scientists on semiconductors and artificial intelligence. He will also meet with representatives of some of the leading Korean economic groups investing in Vietnam.

In particular, the Prime Minister will visit Samsung Group's semiconductor factory in Pyeongtaek City, Gyeonggi Province and deliver a policy speech at Seoul National University.

"It can be seen that the Prime Minister's activities during this visit to Korea were very comprehensive, including activities with politicians, economic and financial circles, and people's friendship organizations, as well as meetings with the Vietnamese community in Korea," said Mr. Nguyen Minh Vu.

From the business perspective, the Chairman of KOCHAM highly appreciated the direct presence of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Korea. Through forums and seminars, Korean businesses, including those who have invested or intend to invest in Vietnam, will feel more clearly the positivity and proactiveness of senior Vietnamese leaders in attracting foreign investment.

"We expect Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to emphasize his commitments to Korean investors, continue to pay attention to and resolve difficulties and obstacles, thereby promoting progress in a number of major cooperation projects," Hong Sun told Tuoi Tre while on his way to the airport to return to Korea.

The Prime Minister's visit marks Vietnam's highest-level visit to South Korea after upgrading relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2022.

Speaking to the press before the visit, South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck Soo affirmed that the cooperative relationship between the two countries is among the world's leading models.

Mr. Han Duck Soo believes that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit will not only further strengthen political trust but also deepen strategic cooperation between the two countries, as leading cooperative partners in the region.

From Seoul, Vietnamese Ambassador to Korea Vu Ho reported that in less than two years since the two countries upgraded their relations, there have been 6 mutual visits between high-ranking leaders of the two countries, 7 ministerial-level delegations and more than 80 delegations from different localities.

"These activities help enhance mutual understanding and, more importantly, significantly enhance trust between the two countries," Mr. Vu Ho affirmed.

For South Korean Ambassador to Vietnam Choi Youngsam, this is the first high-level visit by a Vietnamese leader to South Korea during his tenure. He expects this to be "Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's most successful foreign visit in 2024."

In a meeting with the press, Mr. Choi Youngsam emphasized that there is almost no conflict of interest between the two countries in national development, but on the contrary, they can complement each other and move forward together.

For example, as a developed country, Korea can share its economic development experience with Vietnam. In return, Vietnam has abundant human resources and natural resources that can contribute to supporting Korea's further economic development.

In order to cooperate commensurate with the name Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, there have been many expectations from the two countries to further expand cooperation to new areas, not only focusing on the current traditional cooperation in production but also expanding to science - technology, digital transformation, green transformation, cultural industry, etc.

Those expectations will surely be met during this visit of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
