Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi al-Jalali has declared his readiness for any transition of power in Syria.
AFP news agency quoted Mr. Mohammad Ghazi al-Jalali's statement on December 8. The Syrian Prime Minister added that he is ready to cooperate with any leader chosen by the people. In Syria, the president will appoint the prime minister, who is also the head of the Council of Ministers, Syria's executive body.
"Syria can return to normalcy and build good relations with its neighbors and the world. However, this issue depends on any leader chosen by the Syrian people. We are ready to cooperate with that leader and provide all possible support," al-Jalali wrote on Facebook on December 8.

Many developments in Syria have taken place in a short time, with opposition forces controlling many cities and advancing on the capital Damascus. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad boarded a plane at Damascus International Airport to leave the country, before the army left the area. Reuters had previously reported that he had left Damascus for an unknown location. The Syrian government has not commented on al-Assad's current whereabouts.
On December 8, the Syrian opposition declared control of the capital, saying Damascus was “free”. The opposition also announced that President Bashar al-Assad had left Damascus.
“We declare the city of Damascus free from Bashar al-Assad. Displaced people around the world, a free Syria awaits you,” said a statement from the Military Operations Command, a military movement that brings together Syrian opposition groups. Earlier, the opposition announced it had entered the capital and taken control of the notorious Sednaya military prison north of Damascus.
