Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Nvidia Chairman walk arm in arm in Hanoi's night streets

On the evening of December 5, many Hanoians and international visitors were surprised to see Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Nvidia founder and chairman Jensen Huang walking around the old town.

In the chilly early winter weather of Hanoi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the founder of the trillion-dollar corporation Jensen Huang joined in the nightlife of the capital.

Visiting Ngoc Son Temple and admiring Hoan Kiem Lake, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Mr. Jensen Huang listened to the tour guide introduce the history of But Tower, Nghien Platform, The Huc Bridge, Ngoc Son Temple, especially the legend of Hoan Kiem Lake, Hoan Kiem Lake turtle and offered incense together in the relic site.

Leaving the historical sites, the Prime Minister and the Nvidia founder joined the crowd on the Hoan Kiem Lake walking street and the Old Quarter. Many Hanoians and international visitors were surprised by the appearance of the head of the Vietnamese Government and the Nvidia founder.

Arm in arm, the Prime Minister and Mr. Jensen Huang met and chatted with locals and tourists, and visited book and souvenir shops.

"Ta Hien Old Quarter is unusually bustling tonight because of two special guests, but in a very ordinary style," the Vietnamese Consul General in San Francisco (USA), Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan, shared on his Facebook page after traveling with the group.

Nvidia Corporation Chairman Jensen Huang expressed his delight at the bustling yet sophisticated atmosphere of Hanoi's Old Quarter. At night, the Old Quarter is both bustling and modern, yet still has an ancient traditional feel. Earlier, on the afternoon of December 5, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a working session with Nvidia Corporation Chairman. The two then witnessed the signing of an agreement between the Vietnamese Government and Nvidia Corporation on cooperation in establishing Nvidia's Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research and Development Center, as well as an AI Data Center in Vietnam.

This is the result of efforts from both sides just over a year after Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's working trip to the US in September 2023. Here, the head of the Vietnamese Government visited Nvidia's headquarters and proposed that the corporation cooperate with Vietnam in technology development.

At the request of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, in December 2023, Mr. Jensen Huang visited Vietnam and had a meeting with the head of the Government.

During this return to Vietnam, the two sides signed a cooperation agreement, initially realizing Mr. Jensen Huang's assertion that the S-shaped land truly becomes Nvidia's "second home".

Nvidia was founded in 1993 by Mr. Jensen Huang and is a pioneer in the production of AI chips. This chip has helped the group continuously break records in market value. As of December 4, Nvidia's market value is more than 3.57 trillion USD. In Vietnam, Nvidia is a leading server and AI provider, cooperating with top domestic technology companies to deploy AI in the cloud technology, automotive and healthcare industries. Nvidia has also signed an agreement with Viettel with the desire to become a partner of Vietnam in the process of improving domestic capacity in AI. The Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) is researching and developing a supercomputing system with Nvidia's A100 chip to support the deployment of the latest AI solutions.
