Within the framework of his official visit to Korea, on the morning of July 2, at the Korean National Assembly, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Speaker of the Korean National Assembly Woo Won-shik.

National Assembly Chairman Woo Won-shik expressed his belief that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit will contribute to further deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries and promoting the concretization of bilateral relations under the new framework.

Congratulating Vietnam on its recent socio-economic development achievements, National Assembly Chairman Woo Won-shik assessed that the two countries share many similarities in history, culture, and priorities in economic development such as digital transformation, green transformation, and climate change response, as well as complement each other in terms of economy and human resources.

Chairman Woo Won-shik affirmed that the Korean National Assembly will closely cooperate with the Vietnamese National Assembly to support the two governments in effectively and substantially implementing the action program to deploy the new relationship framework and promote cooperation in economic security and human resource connection.

Expressing his joy at visiting the beautiful and hospitable country of Korea, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked the National Assembly and people of Korea for their warm and thoughtful welcome.

Conveying the congratulations and regards of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and senior leaders of Vietnam to National Assembly Chairman Woo Won-shik, the Prime Minister expressed his belief that Korea will continue to develop and achieve more success, contributing to increasingly enhancing its position in the region and internationally, in which the Korean National Assembly plays an important role.

The two sides assessed that the Vietnam-Korea relationship has developed rapidly and substantially in many areas since the two sides upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with positive results in trade, investment, and people-to-people exchange.

Further opening up for Vietnamese goods to enter the Korean market

The two sides agreed to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries' National Assemblies in the coming time; promote exchanges of delegations of National Assembly leaders and leaders of specialized committees, promote exchanges between parliamentarians and young parliamentarians of the two countries' National Assemblies as well as promote the bridging role of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups of each country.

At the same time, the two sides shared experiences in building laws and institutions to serve sustainable development, digital transformation and green transformation; continued to promote the role of the legislative bodies of the two countries in supporting the two governments to promote bilateral cooperation, including achieving the goal of bringing trade turnover to 100 billion USD in 2025.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two countries’ National Assemblies closely cooperate to effectively implement bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms; support and approve policies to assist Vietnamese enterprises to participate more deeply in the global supply chain of Korean enterprises.

The head of the Vietnamese Government also proposed to further open the door for Vietnam's key export goods to the Korean market, including agricultural and aquatic products; promote cooperation between the two countries in the fields of digital transformation and green transformation; and support Vietnam in training human resources in fields such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence - AI.

The Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea proposed that the Vietnamese Government pay attention and create favorable conditions for Korean enterprises to do business smoothly in Vietnam.

Appreciating the positive contributions of the Vietnamese labor community in each country, the Chairman of the Korean National Assembly agreed to work with the Vietnamese National Assembly to promote the Korean and Vietnamese governments in protecting and supporting the overseas Vietnamese communities of the two countries to live stably in their respective countries.

The two sides will promote cultural exchanges, tourism cooperation, local and people-to-people exchanges, thereby enhancing understanding between the people of the two countries and creating a foundation for developing sustainable relations between the two countries.

At the meeting, the two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern; agreed to coordinate and support each other at international organizations.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man's invitation to visit Vietnam soon to National Assembly Chairman Woo Won-shik. Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Woo Won-shik happily accepted the invitation.
