On the morning of April 27, the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) held the inauguration ceremony of Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant.

Attending and directing the event were comrades: Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, Prime Minister; Nguyen Khac Dinh, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Nguyen Hong Dien, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Industry and Trade and representatives of leaders of a number of ministries, departments, branches and central agencies.
On the provincial side, there were comrades: Ngo Dong Hai, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Tien Thanh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Khac Than, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; comrades of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, leaders of the People's Council, People's Committee, National Assembly Delegation, and Provincial Fatherland Front Committee.

Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant has a scale of 131.74 hectares and a capacity of 1,200 MW. This is an urgent power source project under the Power Master Plan VII and the adjusted Power Master Plan VII. After completion and operation, Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant will annually supply about 7.2 billion kWh to the national grid, with a revenue of about 18,000 billion VND/year, contribute to the state budget about over 400 billion VND/year, and employ over 400 local workers. To date, the two units have completed the acceptance test run and have generated electricity, supplying over 1 billion kWh to the national power system.
At the ceremony, Petrovietnam leaders pledged to operate the plant safely, stably and effectively; coordinate with Vietnam Electricity Group in mobilizing the optimal power output of the plant; coordinate with local authorities in ensuring security, safety, implementing social security policies and protecting the environment for people in the project area.
Comrade Nguyen Khac Than, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee spoke at the inauguration ceremony of Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant.
Congratulating Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant on officially coming into operation, Mr. Nguyen Khac Than, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that this is an important project to ensure energy security, socio-economic development and serve the industrialization of the province. Therefore, in addition to determining this as a key project of the province, the Party Committee and authorities from the province to the grassroots level always pay attention and create maximum conditions for the project to be implemented smoothly in terms of legal procedures, site clearance, security and order. Thai Binh province will coordinate with Petrovietnam to ensure security and safety conditions for the plant to operate effectively.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant is a large project in terms of capacity and investment value, implemented in difficult conditions. The project's revival demonstrates high determination, overcoming challenges, and completing it in accordance with the Government's requirements.
Speaking about the significance of the project, the Prime Minister emphasized that the project contributes to ensuring energy security and socio-economic development for Thai Binh and the entire Northern Delta region; implementing a circular economic model, creating jobs for many people, and contributing to increasing local budget revenue. The completion of the project marks the maturity of Petrovietnam and Thai Binh province; affirming the Party's energy development policy in line with the people's wishes.
The Prime Minister pointed out 6 lessons learned from the Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant project, emphasizing the factors of daring to think, daring to do, daring to take responsibility, strong decentralization, and aspiration to rise up. These are valuable experiences for Petrovietnam as well as localities and units to promote in implementing other major projects in the coming time.
The Prime Minister requested that each officer and worker of Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant uphold a sense of responsibility, operate safely and effectively, manage according to advanced standards, digital transformation, and administrative reform to reduce costs and prices in accordance with the country's conditions. Absolutely do not let incidents occur due to subjectivity; ministries, branches, localities, and Petrovietnam coordinate closely and promptly handle arising issues, ensuring security, safety, and environmental sanitation. Continue to care for the lives of officers and workers, especially people in the project area.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the revolutionary elders and people in the project area who relocated to a new place, giving up their ancestors' and homeland's land to build the factory for the common goal of developing the country.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister presented gifts, Petrovietnam and the Provincial People's Committee honored and rewarded collectives and individuals directly working at the construction site with outstanding achievements, contributing significantly to the completion and operation of the Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant project.
