During the visit, on behalf of the leaders of the Ethnic Committee, Deputy Minister and Vice Chairman Nong Thi Ha sent her warmest regards and best wishes to the Venerable Monks, Venerable Monks, Venerable Monks, and prestigious people in the district. Expressing gratitude for the special attention and affection for ethnic minorities from the Party Committee, government, Vietnam Fatherland Front and local organizations in the district, Deputy Minister, Vice Chairwoman of the Ethnic Committee Nong Thi Ha affirmed that our Party and State always pay attention and have correct, comprehensive policies and guidelines suitable for each ethnic group and region in the country. For the Khmer people, the Secretariat has issued a separate Directive No. 19-CT/TW on strengthening work in the Khmer ethnic minority area in the new situation.
Cau Ke is one of the districts with a large Khmer population in Tra Vinh province, with 33,332/103,518 people, accounting for 32.2% of the district's population. In the district, there are 22 Khmer Theravada Buddhist pagodas, with 473 monks, 22 abbots and 286 members of the pagoda management board. The district currently has 34 prestigious people among ethnic minorities, of which 30 are Khmer.
In 2023, the Ethnic Committee will actively and proactively coordinate with ministries, branches and localities to drastically and synchronously deploy and concretize into an Action Program to implement Resolution No. 10/ND-CP dated January 28, 2022 of the Government promulgating the Ethnic Work Strategy for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2045 and ethnic policies; focusing on the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for the period 2021-2030, Phase I: from 2021 to 2025.
Thanks to that, the socio-economic development of the ethnic minority areas of Cau Ke district in general and the Khmer people in particular has had a new step of development. The material and spiritual life of the people continues to improve, the rural appearance is increasingly prosperous.
Deputy Minister, Vice Chairwoman of the Ethnic Minorities Committee Nong Thi Ha said that 2024 is the year to organize the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities at district and provincial levels in 2024. Therefore, all levels, sectors and localities continue to well implement the Party and State's ethnic and religious policies and guidelines; prepare good conditions for the Khmer people to celebrate Chol Chnam Thmay in 2024 in solidarity, joy, health, safety, economy, in accordance with the civilized lifestyle, customs, practices and fine cultural traditions of the nation.
“In the joyful atmosphere of celebrating Chol Chnam Thmay, I hope and believe that the Venerables, Venerables, Venerables, and prestigious people representing the Khmer people, along with all comrades, will continue to promote their core, exemplary, united, united roles, and together with the people of all ethnic groups, all levels, sectors, and localities to overcome difficulties and be determined to successfully implement the socio-economic development goals for 2024,” emphasized Deputy Minister and Vice Chairman Nong Thi Ha.
At the visit and New Year greetings, on behalf of the leaders of the Ethnic Committee, Deputy Minister, Vice Chairman Nong Thi Ha presented 30 gifts to prestigious people who are Khmer people in Cau Ke district. On this occasion, the People's Committee of Cau Ke district also presented 30 gifts to prestigious people who are Khmer people in the district.
In the afternoon of the same day, Deputy Minister, Vice Chairman Nong Thi Ha and members of the working delegation also came to offer incense and flowers at the Memorial Site of Heroic Martyr Nguyen Thi Ut (Sister Ut Tich) in Tam Ngai Commune, Cau Ke (Tra Vinh).
