On the afternoon of November 26, a source confirmed that the Vietnam Records Institute had issued a document revoking the Vietnam record certificate for Lak Lake in Lak District, Dak Lak Province, which is the largest natural freshwater lake in the Central Highlands in Vietnam.
The revocation of this record certificate was carried out after many press agencies reported that the establishment of the above record was not true to reality, because the largest natural freshwater lake in Vietnam is Ba Be Lake in Bac Kan province, not Lak Lake.

According to the Vietnam Record Institute, after revoking the above record certificate, the institute will coordinate with the authorities of Dak Lak province to continue reviewing and proposing appropriate and clear adjustment of criteria for Lak Lake, avoiding misunderstandings and misinterpretations of the record criteria; and adjusting the record content accordingly.

Previously, at the 120th anniversary celebration of Dak Lak province held on the evening of November 22, the organizing committee announced that Dak Lak province had three records established by the Vietnam Record Organization. Among them, Lak Lake in Lak District is the largest natural freshwater lake in the Central Highlands in Vietnam (500 hectares wide, at an altitude of nearly 417 meters above sea level).
Speaking with PLO, Mr. Thai Hong Ha, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak province, said that the dossier of Dak Lak province proposed the above organization to recognize Lak Lake as the largest natural freshwater lake in the Central Highlands - Vietnam.
Mr. Nguyen Van Vien, Director of the Vietnam Intellectual Property Institute, also said that the largest freshwater lake in Vietnam today is Ba Be Lake in Bac Kan province.
