According to statistics from the Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Tourism, during the Nha Trang International Light Bay Festival 2024 (EGN 2024) from July 13 to August 3, hotels in the center of Nha Trang City achieved an average room occupancy rate of over 90%, hundreds of thousands of tourists and locals experienced the warm festival atmosphere.

In July 2024 alone, Khanh Hoa welcomed more than 1.5 million overnight visitors (up 15% compared to June 2024, up 24% compared to the same period in 2023), of which international visitors were estimated at 395 thousand (up 61.2% over the same period). Total revenue from tourism is estimated at more than 7 trillion VND (up 21.9% over the same period).

Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh, Director of Khanh Hoa Province Department of Tourism, shared that the Nha Trang International Light Bay Festival is the "key" event of the 2024 summer tourist season of the province. This is the first large-scale drone light performance competition held in Vietnam as well as the world, bringing the audience through every level of emotion with the most vivid visual experience of historical, cultural, and tourism images of Khanh Hoa in particular and Vietnam in general.

At EGN 2024, Guinness World Records awarded two Guinness World Record certificates for “The world's largest light show of wonders” and “The world's largest light show of Vietnamese cultural symbols - Lac birds” to Khanh Hoa province.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh said that with this historic milestone, Khanh Hoa has become the first locality in the country to directly set two Guinness World Records, affirming its position on the path to becoming a potential tourist destination not only in Vietnam but also globally, contributing to increasing the number of Guinness World Records set in Vietnam - a country that has only recorded 15 records in the past 20 years.

“Nha Trang deserves the title of one of the most beautiful bays in the world, and is also the top ideal destination for drone light shows,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh emphasized.

Research to make the festival an annual activity

Mr. Dinh Van Thieu, Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, hopes that the success of EGN 2024 will contribute to the success of tourism stimulus activities, affirm the Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa tourism brand, create momentum in growth for Khanh Hoa tourism industry in 2024 and the following years, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province.

“With the spreading effect of Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa tourism image through this event, Khanh Hoa province will study to continue to maintain the organization of the annual Bay of Light Festival in the coming time,” Mr. Dinh Van Thieu suggested.

In 2024, Khanh Hoa province aims to welcome 9 million overnight visitors, including 3 million international visitors, while striving to achieve tourism revenue of about 40,000 billion VND. Large-scale and unique activities and events organized consecutively throughout the year in the province have helped effectively exploit cultural, tourism and entertainment values ​​to stimulate demand, attract tourists, and promote tourism growth.

Tourism services in Nha Trang are increasingly improved, from high-class resorts to comfortable hotels, bringing maximum satisfaction to visitors.

Deputy Minister Ho An Phong also expressed his belief that the festival will contribute to promoting tourism, economy and culture of Nha Trang to develop further, soon achieving the goal of welcoming and serving 9 million visitors in 2024 as planned by Khanh Hoa province.

"Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa with its enormous potential, with the strong determination of the local government and people, will certainly continue to affirm its position on the world tourism map", Deputy Minister Ho An Phong affirmed, with those results, Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa has truly become one of the major tourist centers of the country, contributing significantly to the effective implementation of Resolution No. 82/NQ-CP dated May 18, 2023 of the Government on key tasks and solutions to accelerate recovery, accelerate effective and sustainable tourism development and Directive No. 08/CT-TTg dated February 23, 2024 of the Prime Minister on comprehensive, rapid and sustainable tourism development in the coming time.
