By professionalizing the organization, investing systematically and constantly providing new experiences, Binh Lieu district and Uong Bi city are turning their own unique local festivals into "magnets" to attract visitors in the fall and winter.
Participating in the 5th Opening Program of Binh Lieu District Culture - Tourism Week in 2024, Mr. Nguyen Ha Hai, Director of Hon Gai Tourism & Services Joint Stock Company - Quang Ninh Branch, commented: Every year, the festival is organized with new features, more magnificent than the previous year. This year, Binh Lieu has recreated a part of the coronation procession in Luc Na Communal House Festival, performing on stage to introduce culinary specialties such as cooc mo cake, dong vermicelli, banh chung bo me... With such a special program, the Opening Program of Culture - Tourism Week, Golden Season Festival and So Flower Festival are attractive highlights that we can build in the tour schedule to introduce to tourists.
After the opening ceremony, Binh Lieu organized a series of attractive cultural and sports activities, inviting and attracting tourists, such as: coordinating with the Department of Culture - Sports of Quang Ninh to organize the 2024 Quang Ninh Province Ethnic Minority Women's Football Tournament, the Netherlands Cup. The tournament attracted 120 athletes from 7 teams of 2 localities, Binh Lieu district and Tien Yen district. Thereby, contributing to promoting the new tourism product of San Chi Women's Football associated with tourism in Huc Dong commune (Binh Lieu) and Dai Duc (Tien Yen).
This year is also the first year that Binh Lieu district has organized a cultural space for the Tay, Dao Thanh Phan, and San Chi ethnic groups right at the 25/12 Square Stage so that visitors have the opportunity to learn about the customs, rituals, and traditional costumes of the Binh Lieu people. The program, held on weekend evenings, has gradually become an interesting cultural meeting place for visitors.
Mr. Dao Thanh Binh, Director of Aventure Vietnam Travel Company, commented: Unique cultural activities will be a plus point for tourists when coming to Binh Lieu. During the day, tourists can visit rice fields, waterfalls, reed hills and border markers. In the evening, tourists will enjoy traditional cultural and artistic programs, and join in campfires to interact with the locals.
Identifying the last months of the year as the peak tourist season, for many years now, Binh Lieu district has issued a plan for the Cultural - Tourism Week program with a series of unique activities with about 20 activities. In 2024, the Cultural - Tourism Week of Binh Lieu district has 18 activities, including many attractive sports competitions such as the Dinosaur Back Conquering Mountain Climbing Competition, the So Flower Festival Cycling Competition; the National Costume Performance Competition, the Cuisine Competition of the ethnic groups of Binh Lieu district, the Dong Rieng cluster competition, etc.
To stimulate autumn and winter tourism, in recent years, Uong Bi City has also increased the organization of festival activities. In addition to traditional festivals such as the Chrysanthemum Festival at Ba Vang Pagoda, the Medicine Buddha Festival at Trinh Pagoda, the Nirvana Memorial Ceremony of King Tran Nhan Tong and the Birthday of King Tran Nhan Tong, Uong Bi City also organizes new festivals and cultural and sports activities. From 2023, the city will organize the Uong Bi Golden Autumn Festival associated with introducing the tourist landscape of Phuong Hoang Hill, Binh Huong Peak, camping tourism activities and launching new tourism products. In 2024, for the first time, the city will organize the "Yen Tu Heritage 2024 - Touching the Heritage Area" Run within the framework of the Uong Bi Golden Autumn Festival 2024.
Mr. Pham Xuan Thanh, Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Uong Bi City, said: The race is organized to promote the strength of sports tourism associated with promoting the values of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son Kiep Bac Heritage Complex, which is currently being submitted to UNESCO for recognition as a world cultural heritage. Although it is the first year of organization, the race has attracted great attention from tourists, especially those who love sports. We have finalized the number of athletes participating at 6,000 people, 1,000 more than the initial estimate. Currently, the Organizing Committee is completing preparations for the race to take place safely and successfully on December 8.
With constant innovation and investment in organizing year-end festival activities in an increasingly professional manner, Binh Lieu and Uong Bi are aiming for higher visitor reception targets. Accordingly, by the end of October, Uong Bi City had welcomed more than 3.1 million visitors, reaching the target of welcoming visitors for the whole year early. As for Binh Lieu, as of November 15, the district had welcomed over 170,000 visitors, equal to 113.4% of the target assigned by the province for the whole year.
