Q1/2025: Highest growth in agriculture, forestry and fishery in the past 4 years

On the afternoon of April 13, at the conference on the first quarter work, key tasks in April and the second quarter of 2025 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Minister Do Duc Duy said that in the past 3 months, the growth of agriculture, forestry and fishery reached 3.74%.

According to Mr. Duy, the growth figure is 3.74% above is the highest increase in the first quarter of the last 4 years, from 2022 to present. (growth rate in Q1/2022 increased by 3.36%; Q1/2023 increased by 3.01%; Q1/2024 increased by 3.50%).

More information, Chief of Office Ministry of Agriculture and Environment Le Van Thanh said that in the first 3 months of 2025, the total export turnover of agriculture, forestry and fishery products reached 15.72 billion USD (up 13.1% over the same period in 2024).

Of which , the export value of agricultural products reached 8.53 billion USD (up 12.2%); the export value of livestock products reached 131.3 million USD (up 18.5%); the export value of aquatic products reached 2.29 billion USD (up 18.1%); the export value of forestry products reached 4.21 billion USD (up 11.2%); the export value of production inputs reached 549.5 million USD (up 19.6%).

Most of the key products achieved higher export value than the same period last year, such as: Wood and wood products reached 3.95 billion USD (up 11.6%); coffee 2.88 billion USD (up 49.5%); rubber 765.8 million USD (up 26.1%); shrimp 943 million USD (up 37.8%). Rice alone reached 1.14 billion USD (down 19.7%); vegetables and fruits reached 1.14 billion USD (down 11.3%).

Import turnover in the past three months reached 11.32 billion USD (up 13.1%). Of which, the import value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products from the Americas increased by 21.8% (reaching 3.1 billion USD); Asia decreased by 0.5% (reaching 3.03 billion USD); Europe increased by 22% (reaching 506 million USD) and Africa increased by 119.2% (reaching 356 million USD), Oceania increased by 6.3% (reaching 438 million USD).

In the first 3 months of the year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has also been proactive, flexible, and timely in responding to policies and fluctuations in the world and domestic situation.

Accordingly, the Minister and Deputy Ministers have been resolute and close in directing many important and urgent tasks such as: Building an Action Plan to implement the growth target of the agricultural and environmental sectors, and the total export turnover of agriculture, forestry and fishery products in 2025; organizing a Conference on stabilizing the rice market.

In particular, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has prepared scenarios and solutions to respond to the US applying reciprocal tariffs on goods imported from Vietnam; worked with a number of industry associations to perfect the legal system related to the Law on Technical Standards and Regulations and the Law on Product and Goods Quality.

In addition, the State management agency in the fields of agriculture and environment also reviewed and proposed plans to amend and supplement legal documents in the fields of agriculture and environment to implement the two-level local government model.

In April and the second quarter of 2025, the representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment said that the industry will continue to strive to complete the industry's growth target and the total import-export turnover of agriculture, forestry and fishery products./.
