Báo Tiền Phong•02/09/2024
TPO - During the National Day holiday on September 2, workers at the construction site of the An Phu intersection project (Thu Duc City) and the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection tunnel (District 7, Ho Chi Minh City) were still busy with work.
This is a major traffic junction at the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City. Therefore, the traffic density through the area is very high and there are often overloads and congestions. At the end of 2022, the An Phu traffic junction construction project with a total investment of 3,408 billion VND was started.
After nearly 2 years of construction, some items of the project have now taken shape.
According to the reporter's records, during the National Day holiday on September 2, the construction site of An Phu intersection always maintained a workforce of workers.
At the construction area of package XL06: building the HC1-02 underpass on the side of Mai Chi Tho street connecting to the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay highway, the working atmosphere is extremely busy.
Mr. Phan Xuan Thieu - construction officer of Truong Son Contractor (construction manager of HC1-02 package, tunnel segment K7-K12) said that during the National Day holiday on September 2, the contractor maintained 30 workers working in the morning and 20 workers working in the evening. The contractor ensured that the construction took place continuously day and night to speed up the progress.
According to Mr. Thieu, the total progress of the HC1-02 underpass is about 45% complete, with tunnel segments K7-K12 of the Truong Son contractor alone reaching about 30% of the volume. Currently, the contractor is constructing tunnel segments K8-7-9. After completing these tunnel segments, the contractor will restore the road surface for traffic. After that, continue to construct tunnel segments K12-13.
Upon completion of tunnel segment K12-13, the contractor will move to the overall construction phase between the intersection, which is tunnel segment K10-K11. It is expected that the HC1-02 underpass will be opened in October 2025.
“For this key project, the company has determined that holidays and regular days will still work normally, without any changes. The contractor’s staff, workers, and employees working during the September 2 holiday (in the three days of August 31, September 1 and 2) will be awarded 3 working days per day, in accordance with the State’s regulations and policies,” said Mr. Thieu.
Mr. Vu Anh, a worker at the XL06 package - An Phu intersection project, shared: "During the final stage of construction, workers, engineers and the project management team tried to divide shifts, working day and night to ensure progress. During the holidays, those who stayed to work were paid an increase in salary, so everyone felt secure in their work."
Mr. Luong Minh Phuc - Director of the Management Board of Investment and Construction of Traffic Works of Ho Chi Minh City (Traffic Board, investor) said that the An Phu intersection project is identified as a key project, contributing to reducing traffic congestion in the eastern area of Ho Chi Minh City.
It is expected that in September 2024, the first two packages of the project, including Ba Dat Bridge and Giong Ong To 2 Bridge, will be completed.
The An Phu intersection project is expected to open its first underpass by the end of 2024. The second underpass and four overpasses will be completed by 2025.
An Phu intersection is designed with 3 floors with a two-way tunnel connecting Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway with Mai Chi Tho road (Thu Thiem tunnel side), extending through Mai Chi Tho - Dong Van Cong intersection. The cross-section scale of the road section is 10-12 lanes, the tunnel section has 4 two-way lanes, the overpasses have 2 lanes each branch. (Project perspective image)
Also during the September 2nd holiday, at the construction site of the underpass project at the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection (District 7), the working atmosphere was still extremely busy and urgent.
The Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection tunnel project is invested by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport. The project started construction in April 2020 with a total investment of about 830 billion VND. When put into operation, this project is expected to reduce traffic congestion at the southern gateway intersection of Ho Chi Minh City. At the same time, it will create ventilation for the main road connecting the center of Ho Chi Minh City with Nha Be district and Hiep Phuoc port.
Currently the total project volume has reached more than 70%.
Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport plans to open the HC-02 underpass branch in September and the HC-01 underpass branch in December.
