According to records, residents in many areas of Hanoi such as: Ha Dong, Tay Mo, Hoang Mai, Thanh Tri... clearly felt the shaking caused by the earthquake.

Mr. Le Van Minh in Hoang Mai district (Hanoi) shared that he lives in an apartment building with more than 20 floors, his house is on the 11th floor. While he was sitting, his whole family felt the shaking, his mind was dizzy, and he felt like he had a vestibular disorder. Then, when he saw many people bustling down to the lobby, he realized that an earthquake had just happened.

Mr. Vu Hoang Long (in Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi) shared that he was lying on a chair resting and felt light-headed. When he opened his eyes, he saw the house shaking, thinking he was dreaming.

Speaking to VietNamNet, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Anh said that the earthquake that occurred in Myanmar was very large. Accordingly, at 1:20 p.m. on March 28, an earthquake occurred in Myanmar at coordinates 21.71N - 96.02 E. The earthquake had a magnitude of 7.7 on the Richter scale, with a focal depth of 10km. Therefore, the affected area was very large.

“Hanoi is an area with high-rise buildings. Normally, high-rise buildings are easily affected and shaken by distant earthquakes,” Mr. Xuan Anh explained.

Mr. Xuan Anh commented that because this was a distant earthquake, Hanoi and some other localities were not affected. However, he warned: "People still need to monitor and be careful." Currently, the Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Center is continuing to closely monitor the situation.
