300 more poor households in border areas have new houses

On the afternoon of April 8, in the border district of Nam Po, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) of Dien Bien province held a conference to summarize the implementation of support for building Great Solidarity houses for poor households in border villages in 4 districts: Dien Bien, Muong Cha, Muong Nhe, and Nam Po.

According to the report of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dien Bien province, after more than 5 months of implementation (from October 2024), the program of building houses for poor households in border villages has been completed with a total of 300 houses renovated and put into use.

Of which, 122 are traditional wooden houses; 118 are iron-framed houses; and 60 are built houses. The area of ​​each house ranges from 36m2 to 102m2 . The total cost of completing the houses is 30.723 billion VND; of which the provincial "For the Poor" Fund allocated (from support sources of 7 localities, organizations, enterprises outside the province and mobilized in the province) is 15 billion VND; the cost of the families' counterpart funds, self-mobilization is worth 13.663 billion VND.

In addition, the implementation of house building for poor and near-poor households in border areas has received active attention and support from organizations, armed forces units and local people with over 4,473 working days and support in cash and house building materials worth over 2.06 billion VND.

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Vu A Bang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged the efforts of the Party Committees and authorities of the 4 border districts, together with the people and soldiers of the armed forces, and the sense of responsibility of commune and village officials who have focused on supporting the implementation of housing construction for poor households in the border areas, ensuring the right subjects, openness, democracy, transparency; in accordance with the aspirations, economic conditions and customs of poor households in the locality.

To continue to effectively implement programs to support poor households and border residents, especially the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses launched by the Prime Minister, Mr. Vu A Bang suggested that Party committees and authorities at all levels must regularly promote the purpose and meaning of the program to build houses for poor households, thereby arousing the spirit of solidarity, mutual support and sharing. Through propaganda, each family and each poor household will understand the meaning of the program and social security policy to help the poor have a warm home, so that the poor have the motivation to rise up. From there, proactively grasp the support to implement the family's production and business plans, striving to build an increasingly prosperous life.
