(HNMO) - On the evening of June 15, the Vietnamese team had a narrow 1-0 victory over Hong Kong (China) in an international friendly match at Lach Tray Stadium (Hai Phong). This was also the first official match of coach Philippe Troussier as the captain of the national team.
Right after the opening whistle, the Vietnamese players rushed to Hong Kong's half of the field, organizing a high-level pressing. In the first minutes of the match, maintaining a reasonable team distance helped coach Philippe Troussier's players completely control the match and create the first dangerous opportunities.
However, Hong Kong is not an easy team to bully. The away team's players played quite well defensively and had some notable attacks that made goalkeeper Dang Van Lam struggle to defend. Under pressure from the Vietnamese players, the away team's defense made mistakes.
In the 31st minute, Quang Hai was fouled by Goncalve Helio in the penalty area, the referee immediately blew the whistle for a penalty. At the 11m mark, captain Que Ngoc Hai did not miss the opportunity to defeat goalkeeper Tse Ka Wing, raising the score to 1-0. The score was maintained until the end of the half.
In the second half, coach Philippe Troussier sent Hai Huy, Dinh Thanh Binh, Phan Tuan Tai, Xuan Manh, Khuat Van Khang to replace Hoang Duc, Van Tung, Thanh Binh, Tuan Anh, Van Hau.
After using up all their substitutions, the Vietnamese team was no longer dominating the ball control but still dominated the game. However, by the end of the match, the Vietnamese team still could not score another goal against the away team.
Winning 1-0 against Hong Kong (China), coach Philippe Troussier had a smooth debut as head coach of the national team.
This victory helps the Vietnamese team prepare well for the friendly match with the Syrian team taking place on June 20 at Thien Truong Stadium (Nam Dinh).
