Director Ton That Can, Permanent Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association, said that in recent times, the association has regularly organized creative activities, thereby fostering historical knowledge for authors, especially young authors, while enhancing the role and responsibility of artists in the goal of building the culture and people of Ho Chi Minh City.
Breathe life
The "golden generation" of stage authors of Ho Chi Minh City stage such as: Tran Huu Trang, Ngo Y Linh, Vien Chau, Tran Ha, Kien Giang, People's Artist Dinh Bang Phi, Le Duy Hanh, Ngoc Linh, Hoang Dung, Duong Linh, Huynh Minh Nhi, Ngo Hong Khanh, Nhi Kieu, Nguyen Phuong... have created great plays, conquering the audience. Inheriting and promoting the next generation of authors who have also debuted and been loved by the public such as: Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc, Tran Van Hung, Tran Dang Nhan, Nguyen Thanh Binh, Bich Ngan, Nguyen Thu Phuong, Vuong Huyen Co, Nguyen Khang Chien, Dang Minh, Duc Hien, Vo Tu Uyen, Kim Khoi, Pham Tan... Among them, some authors have been awarded the State Prize such as: Le Thu Hanh, Le Chi Trung.
According to insiders, all of the above have created a foundation for a generation of young, dynamic authors to explore and create many scripts that breathe life, helping many stages in Ho Chi Minh City light up.

The play "Comrade" by author Le Thu Hanh, directed by People's Artist Tran Ngoc Giau (performed by Ho Chi Minh City Small Stage Drama Theater) was awarded a Gold Medal at the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City Theater Festival, invited by the Busan Theater Association of Korea to attend the 2025 Busan Theater Festival, and was also nominated by the Council of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Literature and Arts Associations to win the first prize, the 3rd Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Creation Award - 2025.
Focus on ideological values
Experts highly appreciate the efforts of the HCM City Authors Association in building a force of young authors. "We have regularly organized professional training courses for screenwriters and directors with a scale of 30 to 70 students per course. We invite leading directors and authors of the Association to participate in teaching and reporting on topics such as People's Artist Tran Minh Ngoc, People's Artist Tran Ngoc Giau, lecturer Do Tan Viet, authors Tran Van Hung, Thanh Binh... Creating conditions for excellent scripts to be staged and performed on professional stages" - author Tran Dang Nhan said.
Many young authors have achieved initial results such as the script "The House in the Clouds" by author Dinh Nguyen was lit up at Thien Dang Stage; the script "Behind the Sunny Threshold" was performed at Dong Thap Art Troupe; the script "The King Without a Throne" by author Ky Phuong received the A prize in the contest "Movement to write stage scripts for children and teenagers 2023" organized by the Vietnam Association of Stage Artists, the play was staged by the Youth Theater...
Stage creation activities also aim at works of high ideological and artistic value, contributing to promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style. Many plays on this theme have created a buzz such as: "Old traces", "Invisible waves", "Motherland's song", "White blouse", "Rang tram bau", "Second mother", "Journey to find the portrait", "City at dawn"...
Author Tran Van Hung said: "The association regularly organizes practical writing about red addresses, going to remote districts to learn about the revolutionary history and traditions, the formation of ancient lands such as: Sac Forest, Can Gio; Binh Chanh, Cu Chi, Nha Be... to help the team of authors have rich materials for creations with high ideological value".
