The azalea season on Putaleng peak (Lai Chau) came late this year, but the trekking tour was still fully booked until early April, and the number of self-sufficient tourists traveling with porters also increased.
Mr. Lu A Cu, a porter in Che Cu Nha commune, Mu Cang Chai district, Yen Bai province, who supports and guides tourists trekking to Putaleng peak, said: "I have seen the number of tourists increase every year. Even though the rhododendron flower season is late this year, there are still many tourists. Since the beginning of March, the climbing route has started to get busy, each week I lead about 1-2 groups of tourists, the remaining two weeks are the busiest."
This year, the weather is cold and changeable, so the pink azaleas will only fully bloom by the end of March, and the density of the flowers is also low. At this time last year, the flowers were in full bloom and the most beautiful in the past 6 years. On the way from Si Thau Chai to Ta Leng in the afternoon, the flowers were bright all over the road. Normally, the flowers will bloom beautifully one year and rarely bloom another year.
Putaleng Peak is the third highest in Vietnam (3,049 m), after Fansipan (3,143 m) and Pusilung (3,089 m). In particular, the marked point is Do Quyen Peak, located at an altitude of 2,619 m, in Tam Duong district, Lai Chau province. This location is on the route to conquer PuTaLeng Peak, the third highest mountain in our country, 3,049 m high. Rhododendron flowers bring the brilliant and charming beauty of the mountains and forests. Statistics show that Lai Chau has more than 30 different species of rhododendrons with a variety of colors such as yellow, red, pink, purple, white...
Deciding to postpone the trip to the main flower season, Le Phuong Thao (living in Hanoi) actively sought out 15 people from many trekking groups to form a group and book the entire hut on March 28-29. Now that the number is almost full, she hopes to see the most beautiful azaleas in bloom.
In addition to azaleas, all over the roads and streets of Lai Chau province are filled with white bauhinia flowers.
