According to the 2019 Labor Code, employees are entitled to 1 day off for Hung Kings Commemoration Day (March 10th of the Lunar calendar); 1 day off for Victory Day (April 30th of the Gregorian calendar); and 1 day off for International Labor Day (May 1st of the Gregorian calendar). During these days, employees are entitled to take a day off and receive full pay.
If these holidays coincide with weekly holidays, employees will be given compensatory days off on the following day. Every year, based on actual conditions, the Prime Minister decides on specific holidays according to regulations.
Therefore, the Hung King's Commemoration Day in 2025 falls on Monday, the first working day of the week. Officials, civil servants, public employees and workers who do not work on Saturday and Sunday will have 3 consecutive days off, because the 2 consecutive days before the holiday are weekly days off. The period is from April 5 to April 7, 2025.
In case the employee's weekly day off is only Sunday, the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day holiday in 2025 will last for 2 consecutive days, from April 6 to April 7, 2025.
On the occasion of April 30 and May 1, according to the announcement of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (now the Ministry of Home Affairs), civil servants and public employees will have their working days changed from Friday, May 2, to Saturday, April 26.
Thus, during this holiday, civil servants and public employees will have 5 consecutive days off, from Wednesday, April 30, to Sunday, May 4 (working on Saturday, April 26 in lieu).
Agencies and units implementing the April 30 and May 1 holidays should pay attention to arranging and organizing the departments on duty according to regulations and working reasonably to handle continuous work, ensuring good service to the organization and the people. In particular, it is necessary to pay attention to assigning officers and civil servants on duty to handle sudden and unexpected tasks that may occur during the holidays according to regulations.
Thus, workers will soon have 2 consecutive holidays, lasting 8 days, of which 7 days fall in April 2025.
