Thai Nguyen promotes green transformation to adapt to EU green standards

Overview of the working session

Within the framework of the working program, the two sides exchanged information on the field of green transformation in the world; opportunities for Vietnam in general and Thai Nguyen in particular; solutions to promote the expansion of investment and trade promotion activities in Europe. This is the content to continue to concretize the Prime Minister's Official Dispatch No. 17/CD-TTg dated February 20, 2025 on actively and proactively implementing solutions to promote circular economy, sustainable production and consumption, and sustainable trade in response to the green policies of the European Union (EU). In particular, the Prime Minister requested the Chairmen of the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to step up the implementation of local policies and action plans on sustainable production and consumption, economical and efficient use of energy, green growth, application of sustainable and circular models, creating conditions for the development of models of industrial parks and ecological industrial clusters, promoting circular chains to solve urgent problems of environmental pollution, promoting the efficient and sustainable use of resources and energy, developing recycled and renewable raw materials, etc.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huy Dung directly discussed with Professor Claudio Dordi, Bocconi University.

From an expert perspective, Professor Claudio Dordi focused on analyzing the need for green transformation of the global economy, in-depth studies on the EU's green transformation promotion policy; solutions that can be applied to green transformation in Vietnam, especially in Thai Nguyen. The Professor believes that Thai Nguyen is a pioneering province, paying special attention to green transformation. As an expert, the Professor is ready to cooperate, advise, and support Thai Nguyen province to effectively implement this Program.

The two sides discussed issues related to promoting green transformation in Thai Nguyen according to EU standards.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee sincerely thanked Professor Claudio Dordi and the Working Group for their useful recommendations on policies and solutions to promote green transformation. The Chairman assigned the Department of Science and Technology to develop a plan, proactively research new plans and policies on green transformation globally and invited Professor Claudio Dordi as an advisor to carry out a scientific research project on major policies in the green transformation plan of Thai Nguyen for the period 2026 - 2030. The Department of Finance presides over and develops the province's green transformation plan, focusing on areas where the province has potential and strengths. The Department of Industry and Trade presides over the development of a plan to implement the VIII Power Plan, focusing on supporting businesses to transform their production and business models towards sustainability, effectively using resources and renewable energy. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee noted that communication work needs to be focused on and promoted to raise awareness of all levels, sectors and people about green transformation.
