Bunpimay Festival is the biggest festival of the year for Lao people. Every year, on the occasion of Bunpimay Festival, the People's Committee of Buon Don District solemnly organizes Bunpimay Festival to help Vietnamese people of Lao origin in the area celebrate the traditional New Year of the nation.

Tet takes place with traditional rituals such as: New Year worship ceremony; Lantern festival; Buddha bathing ceremony; Wrist thread tying ceremony; Sand tower building; Parade, procession of the spring goddess Nang Sangkhane.

Coming to Tet, in the warm atmosphere, full of solidarity, local people, visitors can pray for good luck, tie strings, join in the traditional Laotian Lam Vong dance. Especially, they can participate in the water splashing festival and enjoy traditional Laotian cuisine.

The Cultural Festival of Ethnic Groups in Buon Don District and the Bunpimay New Year - Laos Buddhist calendar 2568 in 2025 aims to strengthen the solidarity of ethnic groups, enrich the treasure of Vietnamese folk culture, and at the same time contribute to fostering the special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam - Laos, Laos - Vietnam.

This is an opportunity for ethnic people to meet, exchange, learn and share experiences in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values of ethnic groups; contributing to honoring and strengthening solidarity among ethnic groups, building and developing a healthy and progressive cultural life.

This is also a practical activity to celebrate the "Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Day" on April 19, welcoming the 50th anniversary of the complete liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); towards the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Buon Don district (October 7, 1995 - October 7, 2025).
