The visit aims to contribute to realizing the commitment to "strengthen exchanges and contacts, build trust, and promote friendly and effective cooperation between the two navies."
At the reception, Colonel Trinh Xuan Tung, Commander of Naval Region 5, sent his condolences to the Thai people for the damage and loss caused by the earthquake that occurred on the afternoon of March 28.
Colonel Trinh Xuan Tung said: Vietnam People's Navy Region 5 and Royal Thai Navy Region 1 have coordinated effectively to implement the Joint Patrol Regulations and maintain effective communication channels, especially the hotline. Thereby, they have promptly exchanged information and effectively resolved problems arising at sea.
The Commander of Naval Region 5 believes that on the basis of the good neighborly relations, traditional friendship, extensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability between the two countries; this visit of the Royal Thai Navy Region 1 delegation will be a great success; contributing to realizing the commitment to "strengthen exchange and contact activities, build trust, promote friendly and effective cooperation between the two navies".
Vice Admiral Arpa Chapanont expressed his hope that in the coming time, the two navies will have many activities of exchange, cooperation, and experience sharing; continue to coordinate effectively in joint patrols combined with propaganda and mobilization of fishermen of the two countries to strictly comply with regulations when exploiting seafood at sea, contributing to maintaining security, order, peace and stability in the waters bordering Vietnam - Thailand.
During the visit, the delegation of Royal Thai Navy Region 1 paid a courtesy visit to the leaders of Phu Quoc City People's Committee; visited scenic spots and historical sites in the locality.
On this occasion, officers and sailors of the FFG-421 participated in a young officers' seminar and a number of other exchange activities with officers and soldiers of Brigade 127, Brigade 175, and Naval Region 5 Command. The activities took place in a joyful, exciting, and united atmosphere, leaving many good impressions and feelings for the navies of the two countries.
