With 7km in Vung Ro, railway maintenance workers like Mr. Vang often have to work in 40-degree hot weather, located in remote mountain passes... Harsh working conditions, poor living conditions, especially lack of electricity, but the workers here still stick to the road, ensuring every meter of rail, keeping the trains safe. Unlike Mr. Vang, Mr. Nguyen Khac Hai - a tunnel patrol worker of Deo Ca Railway Team, managing from km 1228 900 to 1229 450, Vung Ro 1 tunnel - has 16 years in the railway industry, 7 years of which have been working as a tunnel patrol.

Mr. Hai said that the mountain pass is more difficult than the plains, there is no electricity or water. Previously, the brothers at the checkpoint had to cook with firewood and use oil lamps. Four years ago, thanks to the union's investment in a pipeline system and a water filtration system from the stream, the checkpoints have water to use. "Listening to the thoughts and aspirations of union members and workers, on this occasion, the Union and the Corporation equipped 7 checkpoints on the mountain pass with solar lighting equipment, rechargeable fans, heat-resistant clothing, etc. We are very excited," said Mr. Hai. Efforts to improve working and living conditions for workers Mr. Mai Thanh Phuong - Chairman of the Vietnam Railway Trade Union - said that in Workers' Month 2024, the Union coordinated with the Corporation to organize working delegations to directly visit and encourage workers in steep mountain passes, remote areas, and difficult areas. At the same time, they listened and supported to improve working and living conditions for workers on the routes.

Tuy Hoa - Nha Trang railway is one of the routes with complex and rugged terrain with hundreds of workers working day and night to maintain the safety of the trains. In reality, the working conditions of the union members, the Union and the Corporation have presented 4 sets of solar lights, 4 rechargeable fans, 4 gas stoves to the checkpoints at Vung Ro tunnel. At the same time, they have acknowledged the legitimate proposals of the union members and workers to continue to provide timely support. Especially acknowledging the urgent working spirit of the team of workers in the past days, racing against time to promptly fix the incident at Bai Gio tunnel, Mr. Tran Anh Tuan - Deputy General Director of Vietnam Railway Corporation - thanked the dedication of the workers. At the same time, he commended and rewarded 20 collectives with outstanding achievements in coordinating and quickly fixing the incident at Bai Gio tunnel, with a total value of 64 million VND. Previously, at the Nha Trang Locomotive Operation Workshop, the leaders of the Union and Vietnam Railways Corporation also directly visited and supported 2 union members who were being treated for serious illnesses, each with a gift worth 2.5 million VND; and presented a gift worth 1.5 million VND to the family of a union member in difficult circumstances.PHUONG LINH
