Place to visit once in a lifetime

In recent years, Sri Lanka has emerged as one of the best tourist destinations in the world with many awards from famous travel websites and travel magazines such as: Lonely Planet, Agoda, Travel Lemming, Bloomberg...

An unbelievable truth, only those who come to this land can feel the full attraction of this place which is considered as the "pearl" of the Indian Ocean. Our group are all journalists specializing in travel writing, having the opportunity to travel to many places but were really quite surprised when we set foot in Sri Lanka.

Being in Sri Lanka, we feel like we have come to a pure world. My first impression of Sri Lanka is that it is a country of green trees, of ancient trees. Whether you are in the plains or the sea, whether in urban or rural areas, it is not difficult to see ancient trees stretching out to provide shade. The smooth asphalt roads through the regions of Sri Lanka make you feel like you are walking in the middle of a forest because all around you are covered with green trees. The feeling of freshness always follows you with every step. Green trees help our souls to be more relaxed, healing the damage caused by the noisy, bustling life and lack of green.

Sri Lanka is also a country that has preserved its natural and wildlife very well. Yala National Park in the southeast protects herds of elephants, deer and peacocks. Wilpattu National Park in the northwest preserves the habitat of many water birds, such as storks, pelicans, ibis and spoonbills. During the Mahaweli Ganga program of the 1970s and 1980s in northern Sri Lanka, the Government set aside four areas of land totaling 1,900 km² as national parks.

With strict nature conservation policies, along with the awareness of the local people, even though you have prepared yourself mentally, you are still surprised when you suddenly see elephants leisurely foraging on the roadside, sometimes peacocks standing showing off their colorful tails and countless other animals such as birds, squirrels, and storks flying around calmly foraging. Even when walking in Colombo, the commercial capital of Sri Lanka, you still see flocks of geese and ducks lying leisurely preening their wings on the banks of lakes.

Journalist Lai Thu Ha, Van Hoa newspaper, had to exclaim that “there is no place as interesting as Sri Lanka. The country contains a culture rich in identity. Each region of Sri Lanka has its own beauty, making it impossible for you to take your eyes off it.”

If you come from a developed country, noisy and bustling with the sound of car horns and the dry collision of the industrial world, then when you come to Sri Lanka, you will be awakened. Because here, you can return to nature, to the purest things that Mother Nature has bestowed on the earth. You can live under the shade of ancient trees, lie on pristine beaches, explore wild national parks or world heritage sites, and enjoy the cuisine with the flavors and colors that are very typical of this paradise land.

Sri Lanka is blessed with beautiful beaches, rivers, waterfalls, mountains and wild forests. The country has about 350 waterfalls and 103 rivers.

Come and don't want to leave

A Russian tourist who is staying at Amaya Beach in the tourist town of Pasikuda told us: “Sri Lanka is a beautiful, strange and different country. The landscape is almost untouched, the people and nature blend together. That is what we from noisy countries want. In particular, the people here are very friendly, open and warmly welcome tourists. This is truly paradise.”

Ella is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Sri Lanka. The Nine Arch Bridge is the symbol of Demodara, located between the railway stations from Ella to Demodara.

Alexei Makartsev and his girlfriend from Germany shared that he came to Sri Lanka at the recommendation of a friend who had been there before. Out of curiosity, he and his friend decided to come here for about 10 days, but the more they stayed, the more they traveled, the more they experienced, making them declare that they would stay here until they ran out of money and return. For them, this place is truly paradise. All living expenses, food, and travel in Sri Lanka are surprisingly cheap. The cuisine of this country is also unique. What they like most is the pristine beaches and wherever they go, they are greeted with friendly smiles from the people. They are willing to help tourists when they encounter difficulties.

“In addition to the things that Sri Lanka has to offer such as nature, cuisine, and beaches, I love the orderliness and cleanliness here. I have experienced everything from the countryside to the city and also stayed in the capital Colombo for 5 days, and I am really satisfied with the cleanliness here. No matter how big or small the roads are, there is no littering. Vehicles on the road do not jostle or cut into lanes. When you meet any local people on the street, the gift they give you is a smile and a friendly look,” said a Spanish tourist.

Sri Lankan people are very hospitable. When they see tourists, they all wave warmly.

This land has many stories to tell tourists. There are temples built in caves, hundreds of years old, and built with devotion. There is Sigiriya, a stone fortress standing tall in the middle of the jungle, where traces of an ancient city from the 5th century are preserved. There is the "most beautiful train in the world", passing through giant rocks. There are sunny beaches, fishing ports bustling with buyers...

Leaving Sri Lanka, you will remember the friendly smiles. They will wave to tourists everywhere, invite you into their homes, and sip the famous Ceylon tea.

Sri Lanka - a land of peace, a place to visit once in a lifetime. Even if you have left Sri Lanka, it is difficult to forget, because "paradise" is hard to forget.
