On January 11, Tien Giang Provincial Police are temporarily detaining 6 subjects for disturbing public order and are clarifying a number of other subjects related to the fireworks incident on National Highway 1.

Previously, at 6 p.m. on January 9, Le Thanh Khoa (born in 1990; residing in Tan Hoi commune, Cai Lay town, Tien Giang province) held a birthday party at the pho restaurant owned by Khoa on the side of National Highway 1, Nhi My ward, Cai Lay town. Khoa invited more than 100 relatives and friends to attend.
While organizing the party, Khoa turned on a large sound system to sing and dance in the Khoa residence. At around 10 p.m. the same day, Tran Anh Dung (born in 2003) took 5 boxes of fireworks and placed them on the median strip of National Highway 1 and lit them with the reason of "enjoying" the party.
When the fireworks exploded, about 20 people ran out to dance, film and take pictures on Highway 1, affecting traffic safety and public order.
Upon receiving the information, the Tien Giang Provincial Police Department directed the Criminal Police Department to coordinate with Cai Lay Town Police to disperse the crowd and summon the subjects to the town police headquarters for questioning. The police coordinated with the prosecutor's office to conduct a crime scene investigation, collect documents and evidence, and clarify the subjects' acts of disturbing public order to strictly handle them in accordance with the law.
Through initial investigation, Dung confessed that the fireworks burned on the median strip were given to him by a friend in Cambodia.
