Not only bustling in the summer, entering the last months of the year, Quang Ninh tourism focuses on promoting the organization of a series of unique and impressive cultural and sports events and exploiting new tourism products, typical of the Fall and Winter seasons. Thereby, determined to complete the goal of welcoming 19 million visitors in 2024, realizing the goal of becoming an attractive four-season tourist destination.
Attractive events
Although after storm No. 3 (Yagi), Quang Ninh tourism industry suffered extremely heavy damage, tourism activities were suspended for about a week, but with the consensus of the entire political system and people, the province's tourism industry quickly overcame the consequences, ready to operate and welcome tourists back in the autumn-winter tourist season.
On the morning of September 22, 2024, the VnExpress Marathon Amazing Halong 2024 with the participation of 9,000 athletes from clubs and runner groups who love running conquered beautiful running routes through the Bai Chay - Hon Gai area (Ha Long City) is proof of the rapid recovery of Quang Ninh tourism.
Mr. Chu Van Hanh (Bac Giang province) shared: Although I was informed that the impact of storm No. 3 in Ha Long was very large, after more than 10 days of the storm, the first time I was in Ha Long to participate in the race, I was really surprised by the recovery efforts of the tourist city when it was able to organize a major sporting event. The race course almost showed no signs of the impact of the big storm, very spacious, airy and the most beautiful was the coastal route. We spent time in Ha Long to have fun and visit.
In addition to events that contribute to stimulating tourism, annual tourism products in the Fall-Winter season in Quang Ninh are also deployed to attract visitors. Accordingly, Binh Lieu continues to organize a series of attractive activities within the framework of the Binh Lieu Culture - Tourism Week 2024 taking place from October to the end of December 2024 with the highlight being the Golden Season Festival and the So Flower Festival. Visitors can not only admire and enjoy the beautiful natural landscape in the highlands with the golden rice season, the poetic reed flower season, the pure white So flower season along the border patrol route, but also immerse themselves in the bustling, joyful festival atmosphere, imbued with the traditional cultural colors of the Tay, Dao, and San Chi ethnic groups here through cultural exchange activities, arts, sports, folk games; traditional cuisine, etc.
Yen Tu (Uong Bi) is also a top attractive destination in Quang Ninh in the fall and winter. From now until the end of the year, there are expected to be many attractive tourism events at the provincial level as well as in localities that promise to bring visitors unique experiences such as: Uong Bi Golden Autumn Program; San Chi ethnic cultural and sports festival in the golden season of Soong Co region, Duc Ong Hoang Can Temple Festival - San Diu ethnic cultural and sports festival (Tien Yen), Ban Vuong Festival (Ba Che), Van Don Week - orange season, AMTA running race on Bach Dang heritage road 2024 (Quang Yen), Quang Ninh culinary festival 2024, Winter Carnival, Countdown program to welcome the new year 2025...
Accelerate to the finish line
Cruise tourism is currently playing an important role in attracting and increasing the number of international visitors to Quang Ninh province. Autumn and Winter are also the peak season for cruise tourists with the majority of visitors concentrated in Ha Long. To welcome the 2024-2025 cruise tourism season, as well as promote the growth of cruise tourists in particular and international tourists in general, the tourism industry is making efforts to increase destination value, proactively connect with cruise lines, improve service quality, etc.
According to the Quang Ninh Department of Tourism, the cruise tourism season starts from October 2024 to December 2025, Quang Ninh is expected to welcome about 60 cruise ships, bringing over 100,000 international visitors to Ha Long. Particularly from October 18 to December 30, 2024, it is expected that 14 cruise ships will dock, operated by shipping lines such as: Costa Serena; Viking Orion; Seven Seas Explorer; Celebrity Solstice; Le Lapouser; Mein Schiff 6; Seabourn Encore; Noordam... Each cruise carries a maximum of 3,500 passengers and at least 200 international visitors to Ha Long for sightseeing and relaxation for 1/2-1 day. Along with that, in the last months of this year, the province plans to open more sea tourism routes from Beihai City, Guangxi (China) and from Guangzhou City (China) to Ha Long City, to attract more of this type of tourist.
For air passengers, the province will also agree with tourism businesses to build flight routes via Van Don International Airport such as: Flight route from Wuxi, Jiangsu, China - Van Don, Quang Ninh (expected 2 flights/week, starting from October 2024); flight route from Jeju, South Korea - Van Don, Quang Ninh (expected to start from October 2024). At the same time, continue to connect with tourism businesses, open other international tourist routes from China, South Korea and domestic flights in the southern region to Quang Ninh via Van Don International Airport. From here, it will contribute to increasing the attraction of international tourists to Van Don as well as the tourist center of Ha Long at the end of this year and in the long term future.
It is known that from January to September 2024, Quang Ninh welcomed 15.6 million visitors, an increase of 20% over the same period in 2023, equal to 98.1% of the 9-month growth scenario. Total tourism revenue is estimated at VND 36,856 billion, an increase of 39% over the same period in 2023, reaching 97.8% of the 9-month growth scenario. The good news is that out of 15.6 million visitors, there were nearly 2.6 million international tourists, mainly from markets such as China, Korea, Taiwan, the US, India, France, Australia, the UK, Germany, and Japan. We believe that this positive result is an important basis for Quang Ninh tourism to accelerate to the finish line, continuing to affirm its position as a safe, friendly, and attractive destination for domestic and international tourists, worthy of being one of the growth pillars of the province.
