Students of Vietnam National Academy of Agriculture won first prize 5 times at the National Startup Competition

10 years of supporting student startups at Vietnam National University of Agriculture

Speaking at the Conference, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Ngoc Huyen, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee - Vice Chairman in charge of the Academy Council - Deputy Director of the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture, said that since 2014, the Academy has pioneered in organizing agricultural start-up programs with the sponsorship of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), the National Start-up Organizing Committee. This program has become an important bridge, promoting and supporting young people and students with a passion for starting a business to realize their ideas.

"From the program's launch pad, hundreds of startup projects have been realized into companies and cooperatives. More than 1,400 projects have participated, with contributions from secondary schools, high schools, colleges and universities, and provincial and municipal youth unions across the country. Students of the Academy have achieved many successes, including winning first prize in the National Startup Competition five times - a great source of pride for the Academy," said Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Ngoc Huyen.

This year, marking the 10-year journey of the Agricultural Startup Program, the Academy was honored by the National Startup Program as one of the 3 "Titles of typical schools building a startup ecosystem", continuing to affirm its pioneering role in developing the agricultural startup ecosystem.

In addition, in order to nurture and arouse ideas and passion for entrepreneurship right from high school for students, from 2023 to present, the Academy has coordinated with the Department of Education and Training of 26 provinces and cities to organize the workshop program "Entrepreneurial Journey from High School".

In addition, to create high-quality human resources that meet the needs of businesses, the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture has cooperated with 80-100 businesses to participate in the Job Fair organized by the Academy, receiving 3,000-6,000 graduates. During the cooperation process, businesses are allowed to participate in the management and professional activities of the Academy. In particular, the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture and businesses are currently moving towards cooperation in training and research according to the orders of businesses.

One of the enterprises that has had a close cooperative relationship with the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture is GREENFEED Vietnam Group. Since the 2020-2021 school year, GREENFEED Vietnam has worked with the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture to implement the "Talent Seeds" joint program to train and standardize Greenfeed capacity for students.

Evaluating the "Journey to Start a Business from High School" organized by the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture in collaboration with the Department of Education and Training of localities recently, representatives of the Department of Education and Training of localities all highly appreciated the significance of the program, contributing to stimulating creativity and improving the capacity of students.

Sharing at the Conference, Mr. Do Duy Hung - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Hai Duong province emphasized the important role of startups for high school students. Mr. Hung said that many students have the ability and aspiration but lack orientation, leading to choosing the wrong career path, causing waste. Currently, information about startups in Hai Duong is not complete, making it difficult for students to access.

Mr. Hung hopes that the Academy will continue to organize start-up activities from high school level, or even earlier, at middle school level, to effectively orient students towards their careers. Hai Duong considers agricultural development as one of the three main pillars of the locality.

Mr. Luc Van Duong - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Cao Bang province emphasized the important role of startups and innovation in education. The province is gradually integrating startup thinking into the high school curriculum, arousing the entrepreneurial spirit from school. Cao Bang continues to invest in facilities, strengthen cooperation between schools and businesses, and improve teachers' capacity through training and organizing startup idea competitions.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Cao Bang province called for attention and cooperation in organizing more seminars and startup competitions so that students' startup products are closely linked to market needs.

We recommend that the Academy continue to organize more seminars, training courses, and capacity building for teachers and students; pay attention to coordinating with Cao Bang to continue organizing startup competitions for students. From there, encourage creative entrepreneurship for students, so that students' startup products are linked to the market," said Mr. Duong.

Meanwhile, a representative of the Department of Education and Training of Hung Yen province suggested that the Academy coordinate to organize the experience program "A day as an academy student" so that students can awaken their love for agriculture and choose a suitable career.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Ngoc Huyen, in order to go in the right direction in training high-quality human resources to meet the real needs of life, the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture is closely following and grasping the labor needs of localities, enterprises, and cooperatives. A series of seminars on Technology Transfer - Social Services - Training Agricultural Human Resources in the 4.0 Era, Accompanying Enterprises, Cooperatives, Farmers for a Green, Clean, Safe Agriculture... are being jointly organized by the Academy. This is not only evidence of readiness but also a commitment of the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture in training high-quality human resources for the whole community and society.

"In the coming time, the Academy hopes to continue to cooperate closely with the Departments of Education and Training in organizing seminars on the journey of entrepreneurship from high school; organizing the provision of entrepreneurship knowledge for high school teachers; organizing the provision of entrepreneurship knowledge for Youth Union and Association officials; organizing the Science and Technology Startup Idea Competition for high school students. These activities will contribute to creating a favorable environment for students to develop creative thinking and entrepreneurship skills, while promoting the connection between the Academy and the Departments of Education and Training in supporting the young generation", Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Ngoc Huyen emphasized.

The Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Agriculture emphasized that starting a business is not only a personal journey but also a community journey. Vietnam Academy of Agriculture is committed to always accompanying and supporting students on their career path.
