After 45 years, why did Song Hau Farm in Can Tho change to a LLC?

On the morning of March 27, in Thoi Hung commune, Co Do district, Can Tho city, the launching ceremony of Song Hau Agricultural One Member Limited Liability Company (Song Hau Agricultural Company) took place. This is a company that was converted from Song Hau Farm State Enterprise to a Single Member Limited Liability Company after 45 years of development.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Phu said that Song Hau Farm is a state-owned enterprise, established in 1979.

Because the Law on State-owned Enterprises expired on July 1, 2010, Song Hau Farm had to convert, but encountered many difficulties due to legal procedures and financial problems. As a result, it did not meet the conditions to convert to a limited liability company.

On July 16, 2024, the Government issued Decree No. 89/2024/ND-CP. From here, there is an important legal basis for the farm to develop a project to convert to a type of LLC operating under the current Enterprise Law.

After the conversion project was appraised and approved by the Steering Committee for Enterprise Arrangement and Innovation of Can Tho City, in February 2025, the People's Committee of Can Tho City decided to convert Song Hau Farm into Song Hau Agricultural Company operating under the provisions of the Enterprise Law.

Regarding the development orientation in the coming time , Mr. Phu said that Song Hau Agricultural Company will continue to exploit land resources, transfer achievements in science and technology, and create concentrated commodity production areas.

From there, provide a large quantity of high-quality raw materials to serve the city's industrial and agricultural development needs, linking the processing industry with the consumer market.

The company will organize land management for households receiving land contracts, build a new contract mechanism between the company and the contract recipients to ensure harmony of interests.

The company organizes production according to a multi-crop production model, consuming products after harvest, to increase income on the same area while creating jobs and increasing income for people.

In addition, the company will regulate to ensure the harmony of interests between the state, businesses and farmers, and coordinate with localities to build new rural areas. Continue to innovate personnel work, recruitment and talent attraction.

Not stopping there, Song Hau Agricultural Company will continue the roadmap to transform into a limited liability company with two or more members, in order to mobilize financial resources, science and technology resources, and modern management from investors to expand and develop effective production and business...

Mr. Phu shared that over 45 years of building and developing Song Hau Farm has been a journey full of hardships and challenges. From a barren land, today, this land has become a prosperous land, people's lives are constantly improving, and the local socio-economic situation is increasingly developing.

The launch and operation of Song Hau Agricultural Company is an important milestone with the expectation of opening a new development step for the enterprise while further improving the lives of workers and farmers in the coming time.

"The company hopes to continue receiving the attention, direction, support and assistance of all sectors and levels, along with the cooperation, companionship and sharing of organizations and individuals to contribute to the development of the company," said Mr. Phu.

It is known that Song Hau Agricultural Company currently has 45 employees, managing nearly 7,000 hectares in Co Do district, Can Tho city. In the above area, there are 2,573 households living and cultivating agriculture.

Song Hau Farm was established on April 20, 1979, on the basis of Quyet Thang Farm, which was handed over by the army to the locality.

From a swampy area, on alum-flooded land, ponds, and swamps with an area of ​​nearly 7,000 hectares, it has now become a high-tech concentrated agricultural production center.

This is a concentrated, high-tech agricultural production and business model that needs to be increasingly developed and expanded, especially now that the country has joined the WTO.

Ms. Tran Ngoc Suong (born 1949) is a Vietnamese businesswoman, formerly Director of Song Hau Farm.

She was awarded the title of Hero of Labor in the renovation period and was the first Vietnamese woman to be voted Impressive Woman of the Asia-Pacific region in 2002.

Mrs. Tran Ngoc Suong's father is Mr. Tran Ngoc Hoang, who is considered to have organized the reclamation of nearly 7,000 hectares of land in the Hau Giang region. Both father and son held the position of director of Song Hau Farm.

Song Hau Farm is one of the outstanding State economic units in the renovation period and was awarded the title of Labor Hero.
