Nguyen Tuan Anh, a student from Hung Vuong High School (District 5), shared that he registered to take the exam to apply for the Communication and Public Relations group of majors. "I'm a little worried because this year's exam has some changes. If the results aren't good, I'll take the exam again in the second round," Tuan Anh said.
Meanwhile, Tuong Vy, a student from the High School for the Gifted - Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, said she was used to exam pressure and wasn't too stressed. "I plan to apply to the Foreign Trade University and hope to score 950 points or higher in this exam," Tuong Vy shared.
Before entering the examination room, many candidates took the opportunity to review their knowledge and prepare themselves mentally. At exactly 7:30 AM, candidates began to be called into the examination rooms to complete the necessary procedures.
According to information from the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, by 2025, more than 100 universities and colleges nationwide will use the results of the competency assessment exam to select a portion of their admission quotas.
This year's exam structure consists of 120 questions with a total time limit of 150 minutes. Notably, the Logic - Data Analysis and Problem Solving section has been changed to Scientific Thinking with 30 multiple-choice questions. In addition, the number of questions in the Language Use (Vietnamese and English) and Mathematics sections has increased to 60 and 30 respectively. The questions are designed to assess candidates' ability to think critically, analyze, and apply information.
With its ever-expanding scale and large number of participating candidates, the National University of Ho Chi Minh City's aptitude test is increasingly asserting its important role in the university admissions system in Vietnam.
Important regulations for candidates
Previously, the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) provided exam notification slips to candidates' registered accounts. Candidates could log in to check and print their slips before the exam date (March 30th). If they needed to correct personal information such as full name, date of birth, or citizen identification number, candidates had to arrive at least 30 minutes early to contact the Examination Board Office or make corrections in the examination room before the exam. Other information such as address, place of birth, and academic history could be updated after the exam, starting from March 31st, 2025.
During the exam, candidates who violate the regulations will be severely punished:
Reprimand: Copying or exchanging answers (25% deduction from the exam score).
Warning: Copying answers or exchanging scratch paper will result in a 50% deduction from the exam score.
Suspension from the exam: Bringing unauthorized items, taking exam questions outside the examination room, disrupting the exam (resulting in a score of 0, ineligible for university or college admission).
Canceling exam results: Having someone else take the exam for you, altering answers after the exam, causing disruption, assaulting exam supervisors.
Candidates who are suspended from the exam must return their exam papers, question papers, scratch paper, and leave the examination area immediately after the suspension decision is made.
With its ever-expanding scale and large number of participating candidates, the National University of Ho Chi Minh City's aptitude test is increasingly asserting its important role in the university admissions system in Vietnam.
