On March 30, the Bao Lam District Forest Protection Department (Lam Dong Province) received a rare wild animal, a Java pangolin, from a local resident. The Bao Lam District Forest Protection Department will temporarily care for it and complete procedures to hand over the pangolin to Cat Tien National Park for release into the wild.

Representatives of Bao Lam District Forest Protection Department received the rare wild animal Java pangolin from Mr. Truong Quang Phuoc.

Previously, at around 9 p.m. on March 29, when closing the gate to go to bed, Mr. Truong Quang Phuoc (residing in Hamlet 2, Loc Ngai Commune, Bao Lam District, Lam Dong) discovered a pangolin crawling from the vegetable garden to the porch. Knowing that this was a rare wild animal, Mr. Phuoc caught it and handed it over to the Bao Lam District Forest Protection Department.

Receiving the Java pangolin from Mr. Truong Quang Phuoc, Bao Lam District Forest Protection Department conducted a health check on the pangolin. It is known that the rare pangolin weighs 2.1 kg, belongs to group IB, and is listed in the Vietnam Red Book.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh - Head of the Forest Protection Department of Bao Lam district said that Mr. Truong Quang Phuoc's capture and voluntary surrender of the rare Java pangolin is an act that should be commended. Because the Java pangolin is a rare wild animal listed in the Vietnam Red Book, is in danger of extinction, is given priority for strict protection and is strictly prohibited from exploitation, use, sale, and consumption in any form.

Previously, in Lam Dong province, many local people caught pangolins and brought them to the authorities. This is an action that should be commended and proves that people are also very concerned about this wild animal because it is in danger of extinction and needs to be protected.
