This is the first time the Festival has been held at the provincial level and is also the largest festival among the existing festivals of the Thai ethnic group in Lai Chau.
In addition to the contents such as Then offering to open the festival, offering incense to cleanse the body and remove bad luck, asking Then for blessings and giving thanks in the traditional ritual part; and activities such as splashing water, washing hair, playing some folk games, culinary competitions... in the festival part.
This year's Festival will have additional activities such as stream fishing competitions, spinning and weaving competitions, weaving competitions, reenacting the river life of the Thai people through the activities of casting nets, etc. Especially, 6 ancient Xoe melodies of the Thai people in Lai Chau have just been restored and performed to the public in this Festival.

For the culinary competition, in addition to the communes with Thai ethnic people living in Phong Tho district as every year; this year's Festival will have the participation of teams from other localities in Lai Chau province.
On the guest side, this year's Festival is expected to have the participation of delegates from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; delegates from Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Dien Bien, Son La provinces; and a delegation from Kim Binh district, Yunnan province (China).
It is known that the Thai people are the ethnic community with the largest population, accounting for 31.8% of the total 20 ethnic groups living in Lai Chau. The festival was upgraded to a provincial level to preserve and promote the fine traditional cultural identity of the Thai people in the spirit of Resolution No. 04-NQ/TU of the Lai Chau Provincial Party Committee on preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural identity of ethnic groups associated with tourism development in the period 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030.
