From the simple thought "Every drop of blood given - a life left behind", from 2009 to now, comrade Nguyen Van Loc, Deputy Commander of the Military Command of Tam Thuan Ward (Thanh Khe, Da Nang) has donated blood 21 times to save people.
With his active contributions to the voluntary blood donation movement, he was recently honored to receive a certificate of merit from the Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City.
More than 14 years have passed, but Mr. Nguyen Van Loc still remembers clearly the feeling of excitement and anxiety the first time he participated in the voluntary blood donation movement, organized by the Red Cross and Thanh Khe District Medical Center. That day, after having his blood drawn, he felt his health was completely stable, studying and working well. In his position and responsibility as a mobile militia soldier and Secretary of the Ward Military Youth Union, he actively promoted and mobilized local militia and self-defense officers and soldiers to enthusiastically participate in donating blood to save lives.
In addition to regular humanitarian blood donations initiated and organized by the authorities, during his work, he has participated in many emergency and unscheduled blood donations, helping patients who have unfortunately suffered from traffic accidents, work accidents, or serious illnesses to have enough blood for timely surgery and treatment.

Thanks to his encouragement and inspiration, every year, the Tam Thuan Ward Military Command has dozens of officers and soldiers enthusiastically donating blood, many of whom donate 15-20 times. Hoang Quoc Cuong, a regular militia soldier, shared: “After each blood donation, I only need to rest for about 2-3 hours for my health to return to normal. Sharing and helping patients overcome the pain of illness and return to their families and loved ones soon makes me feel very happy. To have a source of “clean blood” and be ready to respond to save people, in our lives, activities and work, we always pay attention to maintaining and taking care of our health; minimizing the use of alcoholic beverages and smoking; regularly going for medical check-ups and blood tests as recommended by doctors”.
In 2021 and 2022, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, to ensure safety, each time he donated blood, Mr. Loc and the militia soldiers had to go through many stages, procedures, checks, and tests, but determined that saving people is a noble mission, regardless of day or night, when the patient has a need, they are always ready to be there. Sharing her husband's work, at the end of last year, Captain of the People's Army Dao Thi Thuy Dung, a dancer (Art Troupe of Military Region 5) also enthusiastically participated in voluntary blood donation.
In the small room of Mr. Loc and his wife (Political Department of Military Region 5), the souvenirs, certificates, certificates of merit, and awards from Party committees, authorities, and functional forces at all levels recognizing the noble act of donating blood to save lives have increased over the years. This is a great source of encouragement and motivation for him to actively participate in volunteer activities in the future.
