Jadon Sancho was one of the Chelsea first-team players involved in the embarrassing 3-0 defeat to the Under-21s earlier this week.

Sancho hit rock bottom at Chelsea.

Ahead of their home game against Tottenham on the morning of 4 April, Chelsea held an internal friendly between the first-team players not on international duty and the Under-21s from the academy. The result was a 3-0 win for the youngsters (mostly aged 18-20), with 19-year-old striker Donnell McNeilly scoring twice.

This defeat shocked many Chelsea fans and the team's coaching staff. Coach Enzo Maresca was furious, immediately canceling the first team players' day off, asking them to return to the Cobham training center the next morning.

Jadon Sancho, who was left out of the England squad, played poorly and was warned by Maresca that if he did not continue to work hard in training, he would not play.

"They were well aware of how bad that match was (losing 0-3 to the U21 team). The next training session was not meant to punish them or make them run. It was just a normal training session," coach Enzo Maresca revealed about his reaction after the embarrassing performance from his players.

Coach Maresca also admitted that it was only an unofficial friendly match, as Chelsea's first team lacked many key players and the first team had to borrow some young players to complete the squad. However, he emphasized that the team "needs to maintain high standards".

Sancho has not scored for Chelsea since December 8 last year. He has had just four shots on target in 1,433 minutes of Premier League action this season since joining Chelsea on loan from Manchester United – fewer than Joao Felix, who left Chelsea in February to join AC Milan (six in 363 minutes).

Jadon Sancho's future is uncertain as Chelsea are likely to send him back to Manchester United. The England star is also not welcome at Old Trafford. Some sources have revealed that the 25-year-old is considering returning to Dortmund this summer.
