At the ceremony, Saigon Co.op signed a memorandum of understanding with 17 raw material suppliers from 6 provinces and cities including Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, Lam Dong, Dong Thap, Tien Giang and Dure Cosumer's Cooperative Union (Korea).
These are business partners that produce and cultivate Vietnamese agricultural products such as green-skinned grapefruit, mango, banana, melon, dragon fruit, white cabbage, tomato, carrot, lettuce, cucumber, etc.
Building raw material areas with growing area codes not only helps ensure products have clear origins and food safety, but also helps manufacturers stabilize output. This is a key factor to ensure a stable supply for distributors, giving consumers many choices at reasonable prices.
"Join hands" to improve quality
At the event, Ms. Vo Thi Bich Thuy, deputy director of Saigon Co.op's quality management department, said that building a sustainable raw material area is one of the company's core strategies.
To implement the strategy, Saigon Co.op has cooperated closely with international organizations to standardize quality standards.
Along with that, the unit also focuses on improving the capacity of suppliers through training and coaching programs to help supply partners ensure that goods meet standards.
“Developing sustainable raw material sources is one of Saigon Co.op’s long-term orientations. And to achieve that, we have been preparing and implementing for a long time, starting in 2018 and lasting until 2025,” said Ms. Thuy.
To date, Saigon Co.op has completed the initial phase of establishment with 17 suppliers in 6 provinces and cities. In the future, the program is expected to continue to expand to other localities across the country to strengthen the sustainable supply chain.
Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Anh Duc - General Director of Saigon Co.op, shared that during 35 years of establishment and development, Saigon Co.op has always been a pioneer in fulfilling its responsibility towards the community and Vietnamese consumers.
Saigon Co.op constantly strives to improve the supply chain from production to distribution, to bring the best products to consumers, contributing to environmental protection.

Appreciating the efforts of Saigon Co.op, Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Phuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, also affirmed that Ho Chi Minh City has full potential and conditions to develop sustainable raw material areas.
He believes that with cooperation from the government, businesses and the community, high-quality raw material areas will be built, contributing to promoting economic development and improving people's lives.

Saigon Co.op affirms its position as an industry leader
The development of raw material areas not only marks a strategic step forward for Saigon Co.op but also affirms its leading position in the Vietnamese consumer goods retail industry.
In addition to building raw material areas, Saigon Co.op supports capital for production and product consumption for farmers, cooperatives and local raw material suppliers including 5 suppliers: Nhuan Duc Safe Vegetable Cooperative, Nam Viet Food Company, Nam Son Cooperative, Phong Thuy Agricultural Products Production and Trading Company Limited and Xuan Thai Thinh Company Limited.
Also at the ceremony, Saigon Co.op signed a memorandum of understanding with the Dure Co.op Cooperative of Korea, opening up cooperation in three main areas: import and export of goods between the two countries, sharing experiences in retail business, and promoting the cooperative movement in both Korea and Vietnam.
This cooperation not only improves the quality of goods but also demonstrates the common commitment of both organizations to sustainable development. With the combination of experience and potential of both parties, it is expected to create high quality products, meeting the diverse needs of domestic and international markets.
Previously, at the “Connecting Conference to Build a Sustainable Supply Chain – Improving the Quality of Vietnamese Goods” held in March, Saigon Co.op also signed a cooperation agreement with 5 other retail systems to control the quality of goods in Ho Chi Minh City and 6 enterprises and cooperatives signed a commitment to jointly build a sustainable green supply chain. This activity was highly appreciated by the leaders of the City People’s Committee and many departments and branches.
According to a representative of Saigon Co.op, the contracts signed with other retail systems and suppliers, although in different forms, have the same goal of increasing input control and further improving the quality of goods sold at systems such as Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, Co.op Food... of the unit.
In 2023, Saigon Co.op will export Vietnamese agricultural and seafood products to the Singapore market with a total export value of nearly VND 90 billion through strategic partner NTUC FairPrice.
Saigon Co.op and the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City proactively cooperate and mobilize businesses operating in the fields of high-tech agriculture, food processing, and production and supply of specialty products in the city and neighboring provinces with good products, reputation, advanced technology, and at the same time have the need to participate in connecting businesses, helping businesses expand their business networks.
Online sales to grow 20.7% by 2023
In 2023, Saigon Co.op will achieve revenue of nearly VND 30,000 billion, of which online sales will reach more than VND 1,700 billion, an increase of 20.7% over the same period.
Saigon Co.op joins the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee in a series of socio-economic development cooperation programs between the city and provinces and cities across the country to develop supply chains, commodity value chains, connect supply and demand, promote trade and circulation of goods in accordance with the orientation and planning of each province and city.
