The "Best Boxset or Special Limited Edition Package" category is for the best boxset or special edition album box designs. Therefore, it is an award for the design that created this product. Duy Dao - Art Director of the album "Gieo" - is recognized in the nomination for being the person behind the design of this album for Ngọt.
Besides "Gieo" by Ngọt and Duy Đào, other nominees include: "The Collected Works of Neutral Milk Hotel" - Jeff Mangum, Daniel Murphy & Mark Ohe, art directors (Neutral Milk Hotel); "For the Birds: The Birdsong Project" - Jeri Heiden & John Heiden, art directors (Various Artists); "Inside: Deluxe Box Set" - Bo Burnham & Daniel Calderwood, art directors (Bo Burnham); "Words & Music, May 1965 - Deluxe Edition" - Masaki Koike, art director (Lou Reed).
Duy Dao's name is nominated with the product being the album "Gieo" by the band Ngọt on the 2024 Grammy nomination.
The fact that a Vietnamese album was highly appreciated and nominated for the prestigious Grammy Award, even in the design category, still attracted great attention from the online community. Many congratulations were sent to "Ngọt" and Duy Dao with hope for the final result.
Meanwhile, Duy Dao shared on his personal page: "It seems like I was lucky to be the first Vietnamese person nominated and also the first Designer and Art Director from Southeast Asia.
I thank my family, friends and especially the group who have always tried with me. And more especially the band Ngọt who have always believed and been patient. The people around me have always been my greatest inspiration and motivation. There will definitely be a longer, more complete and deeper thank you after I calm down!".
The award will be announced at the 66th Grammy Awards in February 2024 in Los Angeles, USA.
