The opening ceremony of the THACO Cup 2025 Youth Union Finals took place briefly but solemnly, with the direct attendance of distinguished guests including Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; Mr. Bui Quang Huy, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee; Mr. Tran Trong Dung, Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh, Deputy Director of the Department of Sports and Physical Training, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hoi, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Nguyen Nam Nhan, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Vu, Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation; Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Cao Vinh, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University; Dr. Tran Trong Dao, President of Ton Duc Thang University.
The opening ceremony also attracted thousands of student fans cheering for 12 schools with representatives participating in the final round, including Hanoi University of Physical Education and Sports, Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism (representing the Northern region); Da Nang University of Physical Education and Sports, Hue University (Central Coast); Quy Nhon University (South Central and Central Highlands); Dong Nai University of Technology (Southeast); Van Hien University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, Ho Chi Minh City University of Science and Technology - Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, Ton Duc Thang University (Ho Chi Minh City region); Tra Vinh University (Southwest).

The tournament will take place from March 1 to March 16, at Ton Duc Thang University (HCMC). The teams will compete in a round robin in each group (4 teams) to calculate points and rank. A total of 3 first-place teams, 3 second-place teams and 2 third-place teams with better results in the 3 groups will enter the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals (according to the code diagram).
For the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals, the matches will be played in a single-match knockout format. If after the official playing time (80 minutes) the score is tied, a penalty shootout will be held to determine the winning team.
Exciting competition, huge total prize
To encourage and motivate the teams as well as increase the excitement in the competition between the 12 best teams nationwide, the Organizing Committee has announced the total prize categories of up to 800 million VND. In which, the champion team will receive a prize of 300 million VND, 150 million VND for the runner-up team and 70 million VND for each third-place team. The style prize will be worth 40 million VND.

In addition, the Organizing Committee also has awards for the Referee Team that excellently completed the tasks of the Finals (10 million VND), 3 cheering prizes: fair-play (20 million VND), beautiful cheering (15 million VND); inspirational cheering (10 million VND).
Individual prizes (80 million VND) include Best Player of the group stage and quarter-final match (22 matches, 1 million VND/prize), Best Player of the semi-final match (2 matches, 2 million VND/prize), Best Player of the final match (3 million VND/match), Player who scores the first goal of the group stage and quarter-final match (22 matches, 1 million VND/match), Player who scores the first goal of the semi-final match (2 million VND/match), Player who scores the first goal of the final match (3 million VND), Player who scores the most goals of the final round: 10 million VND (If 2 or more players score the same number of goals, the prize will be divided equally among those players).
In particular, the best player of the final round will receive a prize worth 15 million VND, the best goalkeeper of the final round will receive 10 million VND, and the best squad of 11 excellent players (1 million VND/player).
After 2 months of exciting competition in the qualifying round taking place in 6 regions across the country, on the afternoon of March 1, Ton Duc Thang University Stadium gathered the 12 best football teams nationwide to participate in the final round of the THACO Cup 2025, scheduled to take place from March 1 to March 16, 2025.
