On the evening of August 19, Rhyder had a spectacular breakthrough when he won a ticket to the finals of Rap Viet season 3 with the rap "Chu xu hich" combined with skillful drumming.
Rhyder's performance in Rap Viet episode 13 season 3.
However, after being broadcast, Rhyder's song "Refuse to Understand" was commented to have similarities with the work "Melody" by Ash Island - a famous Korean Hiphop artist.
It is known that producer Wokeup is the person responsible for making the main beats for the contestants of team Andree Right Hand.
Responding to Giao Thong Newspaper about the plagiarism suspicion surrounding the rap "Chu xuan hiem", Rhyder's representative said: "Regarding this issue, the music producer and the program have taken care of the beat, so we will not discuss anything further."
Meanwhile, the crew of Rap Viet episode 13 season 3 did not give any response.
After the explosive performance, Rhyder also opened up about his journey to return to Rap Viet and the difficult times in his career since becoming the champion of The Voice Kids 2013.
The rapper admitted to having many incidents, difficulties and thought he was lost because of self-doubt.
"There were times when I thought I would never be able to escape my childhood shadow. I was stressed about it for a long time.
Sometimes I doubt myself and wonder if I'm on the right track. Even though I know everything is a gamble, I always believe in one thing: If I really try hard enough, I can do it. And I did," Rhyder confided.
He revealed that he wrote the rap "Refuse to Understand" in two days, but it took him nearly 9 years to prepare for a performance like yesterday.
After all, Rhyder is proud of his journey back to Rap Viet. He also thanks his teachers, including Ho Hoai Anh - who connected him to learn drums with the veteran drummer of the Ngu Cung group - Nguyen Hung Cuong.
From the very first days of learning drums, he had nurtured the desire to bring drums to the stage to perform. During that time, he also improved himself every day in the best way, looking for opportunities to make his dream come true.
Rhyder said that his teachers helped him a lot from the time he started doing art and guided him to have enough luggage like today.
Rhyder was a member of coach Ho Hoai Anh - Luu Huong Giang's team at The Voice Kids 2013.
In the previous two rounds of Rap Viet, Rhyder caused controversy because he "only sang in the rap competition".
In round 2 of Rap Viet, coach Thai VG also commented frankly about Rhyder: "This song is quite exciting, has the potential to create a trend but this is not the style I expected. This is Rap Viet but most of the songs, you only sing."
However, when it came to the rap "Chu xuan hiem", Thai VG had to admit: "I think this song is okay and that's great. You performed the rap successfully. You knew what you needed to do.
I watched your performances on YouTube when you were young, I knew you already had the foundation to develop. You have the potential to become a star like Son Tung M-TP or Hieu Thu Hai. You did great!"
Rhyder's real name is Nguyen Quang Anh, born in 2001 in a poor family in Thanh Hoa. He was the champion of The Voice Kids 2013.
After the competition, Quang Anh chose to enroll in the Jazz department at the Vietnam National Academy of Music, instead of running shows to earn money.
In 2018, the male singer released the song "I'm used to loneliness". In early 2021, after completing his studies, he went to Ho Chi Minh City to develop his career.
