At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Malaysian King Sultan Ibrahim is scheduled to pay a state visit to Beijing from September 19-22.

Sultan Ibrahim will be given a state welcome at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, then meet President Xi Jinping and attend a banquet, as well as have bilateral meetings with Premier Li Qiang.
Other sideline activities included attending the founding ceremony of the Department of Malaysian Studies at Beijing Foreign Studies University and meeting the Malaysian community.
The state visit coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations, symbolizing the strong bilateral relationship that has continuously developed since it was upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2013, the statement said.
The visit is also an opportunity for both sides to reaffirm their shared commitment to ensuring that the Malaysia-China relationship remains forward-looking, dynamic and prosperous for the benefit of the peoples of both countries based on mutual respect and trust.
The Malaysian Foreign Ministry added that Sultan Ibrahim will be accompanied by senior government and royal officials. This is Sultan Ibrahim's first visit to China since ascending the throne on January 31, 2024.
