The political report at the Congress showed that: Quang Ngai province has more than 200,000 ethnic minorities, accounting for 14.1% of the province's population; the majority of whom are Hre and Co. Ethnic minorities live mainly in mountainous and highland areas of the province, with 61 communes and 8 villages, belonging to 5 mountainous districts: Tra Bong, Minh Long, Ba To, Son Tay, Son Ha and 3 plain districts: Binh Son, Tu Nghia, Nghia Hanh. The development of electricity - road - school - station infrastructure in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the province has achieved important and clear results.
Many key projects and works have been started, completed and put into use, removing infrastructure difficulties, creating growth momentum, promoting local socio-economic development. Ethnic minorities in the province mainly live on agriculture or activities related to agriculture. This is the issue that needs to be focused on and addressed by all levels, sectors, and the entire political system.
Deputy Minister and Vice Chairman Nong Thi Ha requested that Party committees, authorities, and socio-political organizations continue to thoroughly grasp the viewpoints, policies, and guidelines of the Party and State on ethnic affairs, great national unity, and ethnic policies; study, develop, supplement, perfect, and implement the province's ethnic policies, increase resources for investment in socio-economic development; focus on building and consolidating the grassroots political system in ethnic minority areas.
Delegates and compatriots should continue to be confident, self-reliant, self-reliant, constantly strive to rise up, receive and exploit more effectively the State's support resources, combine existing potentials and experiences for sustainable development, and legitimate enrichment. The economy of the province’s ethnic minority and mountainous areas continues to develop. Industry continues to grow well; many investment projects in the field of agricultural and forestry product processing are being implemented, creating many jobs for local workers.
Agriculture has developed relatively comprehensively; focused on restructuring the agricultural sector, converting economically efficient crops; promoting links between farmers, cooperatives and enterprises in production, processing and consumption, contributing to creating stable output for products.
Up to now, the province’s ethnic minority and mountainous areas have 40 OCOP products, of which 34 products have achieved 3 stars and 06 products have achieved 4 stars. Many types of commercial organizations have been formed, attracting the participation of economic sectors.
Tourism has developed; some new tourist areas and spots have been invested in and put into operation. Economic and social infrastructure has been invested in and gradually completed; many important projects and works have been invested in and put into use, creating a foundation and driving force for development in the coming time. The quality of life of people in ethnic minority and mountainous areas has been improved.
Culture and society have made many advances, the traditional cultural identities of ethnic groups have been basically preserved, conserved and promoted. The quality of education, training and healthcare has been increasingly improved. Social security policies have been implemented synchronously and effectively. In the period of 2020 - 2023, the poverty rate in ethnic minority and mountainous areas has decreased by an average of 4.99% per year.
