On the training grounds of Regiment 176, Division 968 (Military Region 4) in the last days of July, wherever we went, we witnessed the bustling atmosphere and enthusiasm of the unit's officers and soldiers practicing. They are workers and farmers who are used to doing farm work every day, but when they put on their military uniforms, they become soldiers who are always full of enthusiasm and eager to practice.
Under the 38-39 degree Celsius heat, each reserve soldier of Company 2, the conversion training unit of Regiment 176, had sweat on his back, but his movements of mounting the gun and loading ammunition were still very precise and decisive. Not far away, on the training ground of the reserve soldiers transferring the 12.7mm anti-aircraft machine gun of Platoon 2, Company 1, the command of the squad leader and the shouts of the gunners filled a corner of the training ground.

If I had not been introduced in advance, I would not have been able to distinguish whether this was a training area for the main force or the DBDV. During the break, talking to Corporal Le Van Manh, DBDV Squad Leader, Platoon 3, Company 2, Regiment 176, he said: “Reliving our military days, we are all excited and actively practicing. Although the weather in the past few days has been extremely hot, the training content requires high concentration and sets high requirements, the soldiers always uphold a sense of responsibility in training, practicing, and implementing the unit's regimes and regulations.”
Observing Major Tran Van Nghia, Platoon Leader of Platoon 4, Company 2, DKZ conversion training unit, Regiment 176, training the content of the Gun Team following the firing command. Before starting the training, he checked the tasks of each gunner, then commented, assessed the strengths and weaknesses, and then trained the new content. According to Major Tran Van Nghia, in order to improve the quality of training, along with implementing the principles and viewpoints in the training process, the unit always attaches importance to the factor of combining the old with the new and enhancing the training of model teams for soldiers to observe.

Lieutenant Colonel Phan Xuan Lich, Commander of Regiment 176, shared: “On this occasion, the Regiment is training the transfer of military branches for the DBDV soldiers in Phong Dien district, Thua Thien Hue province. Training the transfer of DBDV soldiers from the combined arms to the signal, engineering, artillery reconnaissance, and air defense arms has many difficult contents, requiring the application of knowledge of mathematics, physics, etc. Therefore, during the review and infiltration process, the unit prioritizes the selection of soldiers with high school degrees and young age to perform tasks for a longer period of time.”
It is known that, in preparation for the training season with the highest results, from the beginning of the year, Regiment 176 focused on doing well all preparations in terms of materials, training grounds, training models and training and fostering cadres. During the cadre training period, the Regiment increased sports and inspections, and for comrades with limited results, the unit organized additional training during breaks and holidays. The training process increased the time for practical and visual training through models, drawings, technical innovation initiatives and combining viewpoints, principles, and connections; mobilizing the maximum number of unit cadres to stay close to the training grounds to guide soldiers in training.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Duc Thong, Deputy Regiment Commander, Chief of Staff of Regiment 176 added: “Compared to previous training sessions, this year the unit has maintained Party and political activities very effectively, not only with cheering activities on the training ground such as banners, slogans, reading newspapers... but we have also strictly maintained the emulation scoring system, praising good people and good deeds. At the end of the training session, the unit has a report on the training results of each comrade sent to the locality...”.
Thanks to the combination of policies and measures during the training process along with the efforts of the soldiers, the quality of training of the subjects has been completed, 100% meeting the requirements, of which more than 75% are good and excellent.
