VNPT deploys GSMA Open Gateway

On April 15th, within the framework of the GSMA Digital Nations Summit held in Hanoi, VNPT participated in the ceremony to announce the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Global Mobile Association (GSMA), officially launching API services under the GSMA Open Gateway initiative.

This is a significant step affirming the leading role of Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group ( VNPT ) in promoting national digital transformation, while expanding international cooperation, aiming to build a modern, secure, and sustainable digital ecosystem in Vietnam.

The GSMA Open Gateway is a global initiative launched by the GSMA to standardize application programming interfaces (APIs) among mobile operators. This allows businesses, developers, and organizations within the digital ecosystem to easily access and integrate telecommunications and technology services in a flexible, secure, and transparent manner. To date, the initiative has involved over 280 mobile operators, representing 80% of total global mobile connectivity.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Vu Van Trieu, Deputy General Director of VNPT-Media, said: "Participating in the GSMA Open Gateway is a strategic step that helps VNPT play a leading role in the national digital transformation."

In Vietnam, VNPT is focusing on developing API services based on the Open Gateway in five key areas: User authentication; Telecommunications services; Digital finance; IoT & 5G; and scoring and fraud detection. These are all important pillars in the digital ecosystem and the foundation for deploying new technology applications in the digital age.
