Efforts to display and arrange art books, provide mobile services, and apply digital technology to reach a diverse audience have contributed to enriching spiritual life and building a learning society.
Spreading the love of books in the community
Director of Dong Nai Library Tran Anh Tho said that this year's Book and Reading Culture Day event is more special as it takes place in a series of exhibitions and displays to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) - a sacred historical milestone, expressing the aspiration for independence, freedom and solidarity of the entire nation. Not only honoring the value of books and spreading reading culture, but through Book Day, it also contributes to promoting the collection, research, creation, publication, printing, distribution, preservation and promotion of good and valuable books to readers in and outside the province.
Dr. Tran Thanh Phuong, Head of the Library Department of Lac Hong University, said that in response to Book Day 2025, the school coordinated with Dong Nai Library to display and introduce more than 200 books from 10 faculties with the desire to bring valuable, new books suitable for the current labor market, serving young people, especially students.
“The atmosphere of the Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in Dong Nai is very bustling and exciting. Book exhibitions, discussions, and author-reader exchanges attract a large number of people to participate. Through that, the spirit of loving books and reading habits is spread to each person, each family, school and locality” - Dr. Tran Thanh Phuong shared.
According to Nguyen Thi Minh Chi, Deputy Director of the Center for Culture, Information and Sports of Vinh Cuu district, in addition to participating in the artistic book arrangement with the themes of The Boat of Knowledge and Lotus for Uncle Ho at Dong Nai Library, Vinh Cuu district also promotes bringing books to communes and towns and serving mobile libraries in the school system. From now until the end of April, the district library will organize talks, seminars and the Book Model Arrangement Contest in schools; at the same time, give books to students in remote areas and ethnic minority areas.
In response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2025 and to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, Bien Hung Park (Bien Hoa City) will organize an exhibition of 15,000 books with more than 150,000 books. Along with the book exhibition, book talks, giving away rare and good books, selling discounted books, etc. will also be held regularly from April 24 to May 1.
Digital technology helps bring books to readers
The highlight of the series of activities on Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21) this year is the application of digital technology in serving readers. In particular, Dong Nai Library has equipped a system of machines and equipment for readers to experience the virtual reality exhibition 50 Years of Memories - the journey to unify the country. District and city libraries have actively digitized documents, built QR codes for online reading and introduced books and video clips on social networks, helping readers easily access the treasure trove of knowledge anytime, anywhere.
According to Ms. Tran Anh Tho, in the context of strong digital transformation and globalization, reading still retains its core values but requires a new approach. Books are not only a place to provide knowledge, but also a companion, inspiration and opening up new horizons for each person. Reading is not only an act of receiving information, but also a process of self-learning, discovery and self-development. Therefore, the library is committed to taking action together, applying digital technology to support, bringing books closer to the community, so that each family, each school, each agency becomes a friendly "reading space".
