Technology startup Phygital Labs, co-founded by two former Google engineers Huy Nguyen and Nam Do, officially launched in Vietnam on October 1, in Ho Chi Minh City. According to Mr. Huy Nguyen, founder and CEO of Phygital Labs, young people today spend most of their time in digital space, many socio-economic forms are entering the exploitation of cyberspace, gradually touching new values.
“This is not only because the real world has reached its limit, is saturated, and is difficult to create many breakthrough values, but also because of human creativity and desire to explore. Digital physics will be the gateway connecting the real world and the digital world, where the two worlds converge and exist in parallel. This will be a completely new revenue stream, redefining traditional standards and creating a digital economy full of potential,” said Mr. Huy Nguyen.
During the event, Phygital Labs introduced the company's core product, Nomion - Digital Identification of Everything. Nomion is a comprehensive solution that creates a unique digital identity for each physical product using RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) and Blockchain technology, ensuring transparency and uniqueness of products in both real and digital spaces.

From there, it is possible to apply LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging - infrared light scanning and measuring technology) and VR/AR (Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality) technology to bring physical products to the digital environment, contributing to increasing value and becoming an important part of the digital economy. In Vietnam, digital physics has been successfully applied in many fields such as: Digital fashion brand - Ortho Starlight; Specialty agricultural products and OCOP - Cafe Le J', The Ho Tieu; Digital museum - Non Nuoc Stone Village...
Mr. Nam Do, CTO of Phygital Labs, believes that in Vietnam, digital physics is still a new concept. However, if digital physics is properly applied to life, it will help increase the value of items in both the digital and real worlds, automate processes and user experiences, reduce storage efforts and costs, record and increase user trust thanks to its transparency with high authenticity. In addition to the digital economy, solutions for identifying things also help store, preserve and spread the cultural values of the nation to Internet users around the world in a simple, economical and effective way.
At the event, Phygital Labs also signed a 3-party memorandum of understanding (MOU) including the Vietnam Association of Information Technology, the Department of Information and Communications of Da Nang City, and Phygital Labs on the content of "Cooperation, promoting digital transformation in Da Nang City". Phygital Labs also signed an MOU with the UNESCO Information Center of Vietnam to build the project "Application of technology to preserve and develop Vietnamese heritage and culture".
Mr. Nguyen Quang Thanh, Director of the Department of Information and Communications of Da Nang shared: "Da Nang highly appreciates the enthusiasm of young people, the authors of the solutions that Phygital Labs has accompanied Da Nang city to have a Blockchain platform and put in the application domain of the Non Nuoc Stone Village digitalization project, OCOP products and believes that in the future, the next step will continue to be developed in Digital Government and Digital Citizens.
Phygital Labs signed an MOU with the UNESCO Information Center of Vietnam to develop the project “Application of technology to preserve and develop Vietnamese heritage and culture”. Mr. Nguyen Hung Son, Vice President of the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations, General Director of the UNESCO Information Center (UNET), shared: "We share the same mission with Phygital Labs to solve specific problems of life in the period when the world enters the digital age, digital space, digital world, especially in preserving and developing national cultural values".
“Phygital Labs, with its strengths in technology and human resources, will design technological solutions that are suitable for the values and cultural artifacts proposed by UNET. I hope that this open cooperation will soon bring about achievements in the preservation, development and promotion of Vietnamese heritage and culture; thereby contributing to the cultural, economic and social development of the country,” affirmed Mr. Nguyen Hung Son.
According to statistics from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), by 2022, the number of Internet users in the world will be 5 billion people (accounting for 63% of the population) with an average online time of 6 hours and 53 minutes per day. The increase in smartphone use also contributes to the popularity of digital technology.
According to Bankmycell, by 2022, the number of smartphone users worldwide will be at least 5.32 billion (accounting for 67% of the population), and this number is expected to increase to 7.33 billion by 2025, of which the number of users of applications related to virtual reality and augmented reality has now reached 3.5 billion.
The above figures show a major shift of users both globally and in Vietnam to the digital space.
At the seminar, delegates shared the same opinion that Phygital Labs will be a great opportunity to promote the development of digital economy, from cultural products to applications in state agencies, people... and the spirit of deploying new technology is noteworthy through practical applications in life.
This is a market with huge potential that Vietnam can fully access from the very first days. It is estimated that the “Digital Twin” market will reach 35.8 billion USD by 2025, while the market for AR, VR technology, connecting the real and digital worlds will reach 266.2 billion USD in the period 2021-2024 alone.
