With the goal of building a healthy living environment, women's associations at all levels in Ha Tinh city have implemented many practical and meaningful activities.

The Action Plan for Plastic Waste Management in Ha Tinh City for the period 2022 - 2025 with a vision to 2030 has been implemented by the Women's Union of Ha Tinh City since August 2022 with many exciting and effective activities.

Women's association members at local markets actively responded to the model of reusing plastic bags.

Chairwoman of the Ha Tinh City Women's Union Tran Thi Phuong said: "The Union has launched an anti-plastic waste movement in 15 wards, communes, and affiliated units; at the same time, integrated propaganda about the harmful effects of plastic waste pollution through conferences and seminars. In particular, to contribute to limiting and changing the habit of using disposable plastic products, moving towards environmentally friendly products, the Union at all levels has coordinated to organize many practical programs at traditional markets in the city."

Accordingly, the association at all levels has coordinated with the project of the World Wide Fund for Nature Vietnam (WWF Vietnam Project) to organize a communication program to reduce plastic waste; sign a commitment; introduce a model of reusing plastic bags; install propaganda billboards; donate garbage trucks at markets: Cau Dong, Trung Dinh, city markets...

Ha Tinh City Women's Union cooperated with WWF Vietnam Project to donate garbage collection vehicles to Cau Dong Market Management Board.

Along with that, 400 bags and more than 500 plastic shopping baskets were distributed to people to limit the use of plastic bags when shopping.

With the motto "small work, big meaning", in residential communities, cadres and members actively clean up the environment, collect plastic waste and deploy the construction of the "Green and economical house" model.

After 1 year of implementation, the model has been replicated, becoming a bright spot in environmental sanitation in residential areas. To date, the city has nearly 120 “Green Saving Houses”; the total amount of money collected from selling scrap is nearly 450 million VND. From this fund, nearly 200 gifts worth 65 million VND have been given to disadvantaged people in the area.

In the city, there are currently nearly 120 "Green Saving House" models of women's associations at all levels.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai - President of the Women's Union of Thach Quy Ward said: "The "Green House for Savings" scrap collection model not only contributes to raising awareness for cadres, members, and people about reducing plastic waste and protecting the living environment, but also creates a fund for all levels of the association to have money to give gifts to members in difficulty, buy health insurance cards for members with sudden illnesses, cook charity porridge at hospitals...".

In addition to the anti-plastic waste movement, women in Ha Tinh city also actively implement many models and activities to protect the living environment, joining hands to build a green - clean - beautiful city.

Women of the branches actively responded to the model "My house has a fire extinguisher".

Typical models include: composting organic fertilizers and producing bio-fertilizers that have been replicated in 15/15 wards and communes with nearly 2,200 households participating; collecting used batteries; the movement "Building a family of 5 no, 3 clean" at all levels of the association; actively participating in the program of planting 100,000 trees of the City People's Committee...

In addition, activities contributing to the construction of a civilized city have also been implemented by the association at all levels in many diverse forms. Folk dance and sports clubs have been established, attracting the enthusiastic participation of a large number of members, many clubs participate in performances at large and small local programs.

The model "My house has a fire extinguisher" has been widely deployed in communes and wards; model branches have been built in some units; the model of a trusted address in the community to help victims of domestic violence has also just been launched by the Women's Union of Tran Phu ward...

In the coming time, the association will continue to carry out environmental protection activities; promote propaganda to raise awareness for cadres, members and people; assign cadres to supervise the implementation in residential communities... Along with that, diversifying forms of fundraising, calling for resources to help women and children in difficult circumstances in the area. With these positive activities, women in Ha Tinh city are making efforts to join hands to build a clean, beautiful and civilized city.
