Coordination between schools and businesses in human resource training

In August 2024, the University of Economics, Danang University put into use the Digital Innovation Space (DUE-MB Digital Hub) sponsored by the Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB). DUE-MB Digital Hub includes a space for learning, multimedia digital technology seminars, exchanges, lectures and smart digital banking space with broadband infrastructure, synchronous, modern and constantly updated equipment to serve the learning and scientific research of staff and students.

Sharing about the digital innovation space project, Mr. Pham Nhu Anh, General Director of MB said: DUE-MB Digital Hub gives students the opportunity to experience real-life products and services in the digital banking ecosystem, thereby contributing to the practical application of knowledge learned in the classroom, helping students better understand how digital banking operates, thereby better meeting the human resource needs of the market.

The University of Technology, Danang University has just received an electric car and a charging station sponsored by Mitsubishi Motors Vietnam Co., Ltd. to serve training and scientific research. This is an externally charged hybrid electric car, integrated with a gasoline engine to support the vehicle's operation when the battery power is reduced and to support traction when necessary. Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company sponsored seven car engines and two welding robots, supplementing modern technology equipment for the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Traffic Engineering.

The Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communications Technology, Danang University has just put into operation a new technology research and experimental lab invested and cooperated by Nam Long Technology Investment Group. Associate Professor, Dr. Phan Cao Tho, Principal of the University of Technical Education, said that in the context of a lack of facilities at universities and difficulty in keeping up with rapid changes in technology, the support of businesses has greatly helped the training and research of the school's lecturers and supported students in having the opportunity to access and improve their practical skills with many modern equipment.

Revenues of higher education institutions mainly come from three main sources: State budget (for public schools, this can be regular expenditures, investment expenditures for training, research, staff training, etc.); tuition fees and other legal sources of revenue, including cooperation with businesses, external funding sources, organizations, individuals, etc.

In the context of general difficulties in revenue to maintain operations, universities in Da Nang have found many solutions to increase revenue from science and technology transfer, develop business models in schools, and sponsor from businesses... In the 2022-2023 school year, revenue from transferring and applying research results and products to localities, businesses and serving the community of the entire University of Da Nang will reach about 70 billion VND.

In 2023, the University of Science and Technology, University of Danang will implement autonomy in regular expenditures, the total revenue from scientific research and technology transfer of the school will be nearly 42 billion VND, not including international cooperation sources. According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu, Director of Danang University, one of the solutions to remove the "bottleneck" to increase revenue for universities in the context of implementing autonomy is to open up resources outside the state budget for higher education.

Therefore, in order for universities to increase their revenue and achieve autonomy, the Government needs to supplement, improve and issue policies on taxes, land, etc. to encourage businesses to focus on saving and investing resources to support and contribute to universities; encourage universities to receive international funding sources, in order to mobilize more resources to contribute to improving the quality of training and scientific research.
