Disseminate greenhouse gas emission reduction payment policy

Ha Tinh received 1,776,939 USD (more than 122 billion VND) in revenue from emission reduction results and was allocated in 3 periods in 2023-2025 to pay for more than 201,703 hectares of natural forest.

On the afternoon of February 1, the Ha Tinh Provincial Forest Protection and Development Fund organized a training course to disseminate the greenhouse gas emission reduction payment policy in the North Central region (ERPA) to forest owners who are organizations.

Sharing at the training session, Mr. Pham Thai Binh - Acting Director of the Forest Protection and Development Fund of Ha Tinh province said that on December 28, 2022, the Government issued Decree 107/ND-CP on piloting the transfer of emission reduction results and financial management of greenhouse gas emission reduction payment agreements in the North Central region.

This is a new field, currently in the pilot phase, so there will be many difficulties and problems during implementation.

Representatives of the Forest Protection and Development Fund of Ha Tinh province and the departments of Finance, Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Forest Protection Department answered questions about the implementation of greenhouse gas emission reduction payments.

Pursuant to Decree 107/ND-CP, the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province issued Decision No. 178/QD-UBND dated January 16, 2024, approving the overall financial plan from ERPA sources (phase 1) of Ha Tinh province and Decision No. 302/QD-UBND dated January 26, 2024 on approving the 2023 financial plan for revenue from the North Central Region Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Payment Agreement (ERPA).

Accordingly, Ha Tinh will receive 1,776,939 USD (more than 122 billion VND) in revenue from emission reduction results and will be allocated in 3 periods in 2023-2025 to pay for more than 201,703 hectares of natural forest.

At the training session, forest owners were informed by representatives of the Forest Protection and Development Fund of Ha Tinh province and the departments of Finance, Agriculture and Rural Development, and Forest Protection Sub-Department about general information about ERPA, the plan for sharing benefits from ERPA resources, ERPA payment activities, legal basis for forest owners who are organizations, responsibilities of related units and organizations...

Delegates also exchanged, discussed and had their questions answered about the content in the process of implementing payments for greenhouse gas emission reduction.
